Another thread here on Hip Forums got me thinking. What is there to rebel against today? I don't mean that rhetorically, I'm asking for your input/ideas. I'll post a link to that other thread started by PAX-MAN, as it is an excellent read full of great responses that can really make you think. 50 years ago people protested war, fought for civil rights, etc. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=399723 So what is there to rebel against/fight for today?
I've decided to go the on fire for Jesus, Holy Spirit filled, love everybody route. You'd be shocked how many people get upset about that when you're sincere about it.
People get upset at someone who is a lover and Holy Spirit advocate? This reminds me of the movie 'The Mission' with Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons.
Haven't seen that movie, I'll have to go check out the IMDB page. But yeah, the Holy Spirit, love everybody thing really annoys people. I guess that's to be expected though, right? They nailed Jesus to a tree for it.
I think it's more so because many people don't like people who purposely ignore that bad that's also in the world. They see the world through rose coloured glasses. I can relate. I have an aunt who ONLY ever sees the good in everything... "A man was driving drunk and hit a child, they both died" My aunt: "Well, at least they're both in heaven now" "An innocent child died in vain because of a waste of skin driver!" You know what I'm getting at?
No, but sometimes it does make me want to slap her so that she'll wake up and realise that the whole world does not exist in some sort of fairy tale like she seems to think it doesn...but I'm just not that mean of a guy.
Is it not ironic in itself that Jesus was a carpenter? "Jesus! If you sin he'll nail your ass!" "Jesus! Great with a hammer...not so good with nails" Jesus on a job site... Guy: "Hey Jesus, could you hand me some nails?" Jesus: "...I'm having the worst feeling of deja vu" but seriously, he seems like he was a good guy.
There is tons to rebel against. Your government wants to control you. Banks want to enslave you in debt. Schools want to turn you into a mindless employee of a corporation. Corporations want to exploit you. The whole system is designed to imprison you. So are you a slave or are you going to stand up and look at the system in the face and say "fuck off" and go out and succeed despite the obstacles? Tough choice. Meh it is only your life.
Any when you are retired and old and grey and may be close to dying and need health care, will you look in the face of that system who will be willing to help you and say "fuck off!" then?
