I could read every possible thread in this forum but that's way too much work. I tried to meditate a few times now but it isn't for long. My mind doesn't ever stay clear and I keep opening my eyes to look at the clock. The longest I've done it so far was 10 minutes. Maybe sitting meitation isn't for me. I've heard about active meditation. How exactly does that work? I can meditate while working out? That would be good. How is that done? Be specific.
You can do a walking meditation - keeping your focus on your steps, feel the ground under your feet etc. You could try and synchronise each breath with a step. I guess you could also do this with a gentle workout, but focus on the meditation of it, rather than the actual work out if that makes sense. At the beginning it is very difficult to keep your mind from wondering, so active meditation can help. But, when your mind drifts, you just take it back to your breathing, and your steps.
Maybe sitting meditation isn't for you, and maybe closed eyes meditation isn't for you, but just DON'T worry about the time. 10 minutes can be an incredibly intense meditation, it can be plain and boring, but either way, you don't give a damn. Accept it as it is. Meditation doesn't ''feel'' like meditation half of the time, but it doesn't matter. It is better to meditate less and enjoy it than to meditate more and feel that you are working at it. I disagree with Tipsy Gyspy. If you meditate while working out, it is okay and even more fun to meditate ON the work rather than being detached from. Same thing if you meditate on a smell, a sound, breath, silence, noise, sex, etc., etc. You have the right to FEEL what you are doing, you don't need to limit yourself to the feelings that come from meditating.
Hi.. What type of meditation did you do? remember that meditation is a practice, you get better at it as you practice. Patience my friend, patience ;-) Find The Right Meditation For You: When you first start with meditation, you may want to try out different meditation techniques, and use the one you like best. If you are tense and unable to relax, it is perhaps the wrong technique for you?. Try another .. But do not expect to be completely relaxed the first few times you meditate, you will experience deeper meditations eventually. What is important, is that you find a position that you feel is comfortable for you You can use many different techniques: Audio, mantras, light, breathing techniques, your music, counting, relaxing yoga positions, visualization, staring at a certain object / photo / mandala / points etc, kirtan, dance and movement to get into a meditative state. The correct technique will give you the feeling of peace, light and joy, refreshed and more energy ect. . You must like the technique and be able to relax in it. Maybe you need to practice a while on a technique before you begin to master it. Once you get used to it and feel that you’ve mastered it, the rest will follow. Have patience. A great way to understand this is to think of it as a relationship that develops. First, you meet someone, get contact. And you spend some time together, talking and sharing thoughts and feelings, we develop the relationship. The next stage melts together with that person in a deep friendship, partner relationship or marriage. Then you and I are one.
