ok, so, i know that dating online with ppl u don't RLLY know is kinda sad/pathetic/desperate, and that falling in love with someone online is also kinda....yea. But unintentionally i have done just that, and i really don't know what to do. I really like this guy, and he's dropped i guess what u could call "hints" but i don't know if they're real, and he's really just amazing but i don't know what to do. I have his MSN but he hasn't logged in forever at least a month. What should i do?? i like him ALOT.

I think you should forget about him. Even if you think he dropped hints (you could have just taken them the wrong way.) Honestly I'm not opposed to relationships starting online, but they can't only be online. You need to interact face to face to really know a person. I don't think you really know this guy. Stop obsessing over a guy that doesn't have interest in you. Trust me it just seems like its not gonna end well.

Last online relationship I got into ended up with me getting an STD and a miscarried baby from the girl. Not my cup of tea anymore.

You deserve someone who you can be with physically. I mean its not as fun being with someone as it is in person (you get all the benefits) :)

Forget the bastard! I agree with sophieclair. Relationships might start online, but if that's the closest you'll be to the guy the relationship is bound to fail.
Especially when he doesn't even go online often.

We can't have complete control over our feelings, but what we can do is try and not fall for someone who we don't know if will reciprocate. Never fantasize about doing this and that with a person you don't really know because that's the best way to start falling for him/her. Simply take it lightly and do not think much about it. "Hope for the best, expect the worse"

P.S: If some guy drops hints and then doesn't come online for longer than 2 weeks I assume he's full of shit and just forget about him. Their actions must back up their words.

Geez, technology is advancing at a pretty quick rate

I always thought you could get an STD from anyone and anywhere, turns out its all done by computer these days..

But yeah, forget about it. Without sounding harsh, I think the biggest hint of all is the fact he isn't online anymore. I believe he is probably not interested, so you might as well try and find somebody else.

    Good luck!

I just want to say that it's not necessarily "sad/pathetic/desperate" to fall in love with someone over the internet... Because I've done that and I don't see myself as being any of those things merely for having done so.

But I generally do agree with sophieclair on this because if you are really in love with someone, sooner or later you'll need to meet them for real if you want that relationship to survive. So I think it's the matter of whether or not you can be sure that the two of will be together physically somewhere down the line, and be able to make that at least a semi consistent thing in the relationship. Because eventually that's where you guys will want to end up, or else what's the point, right?

So my point is, don't just rule out the idea of online relationships and feel guilty about it every time you do fall in love with someone online. Falling on love happens, and that in itself is not a bad thing. If/when you do, just know your situation, and try to proceed with caution where necessary.

    That's what I think anyway.
