If it were to happen then I guess they would need back up given the number of dogs I have.

A point was made that all I need is a gun. I have one and hope to never have to use it against another person.

    That is hardly the point.

My statement is accurate. No one cares for the police, unless they need their assistance.

I read other articles on this incident and it appears that it is not all clear cut and the investigation is still not completed.

Will that appease anyone, probably not.

It happened. Ranting that it happened will not change that or what is wrong with a system that allows it to happen.

Check out some of the history of what Bobby Seale did back in the 60s with his efforts of observing the police. He would organize a group of people to legally observe the behavior of police officers. It really freaked out the cops. Some of the cops would make false claims that it was illegal to do so when it wasn't.

I have no problem with the concept of police. They exist to protect my rights and the rights of others. That is respectable. I do, however, have a problem with police stomping on the rights of those whom they've sworn to protect.

I was talking about, compared to the shit they pull on humans, its the dogs I really care about (not that I approve of their actions either way and I'm not saying I don't care if they kill people or even women that are holding their babies). I just read that article and the murder of the dogs was what stood out to me. Probably because animals are so under-appreciated in our society.

Yeah, I definitely feel bad for the owner as well. Someone came in and killed any one of my animals, since they are all like family to me, I don't care if they're police or fucking FBI, I'm gonna do everything in my power to bring the motherfucker down right then and there.

    On that point we agree.

They had a warrant, given that they had the right to enter the premises. The issue then is force or the handling of the entry. They did not stomp on the rights by entering or executing the warrant. After the entry is what may be in question and is currently under review. Like it or not it is the only process that there is available. The person who the warrant was executed on has of now not filed any form of wrongful lawsuit or complaint that I could find. The was only and innuendo that he might possibly.

Now on the flip side in the articles I read there is some debate about the time line of the warrant. As I stated this is still being reviewed. The two articles I read seem to point toward some discrepancies. Will those ever be totally explained, probably not as they usually just are not.

I am not of a mind to bash all law enforcement for the so called errors of some. While I do think that there are some in law enforcement who abuse the power they have and are not always accountable for it, I also think that there are those who do not.

That they obtained a warrant means they had to show probable to get it. Was it warranted, I don't know. I also can not assume it was not warranted either.

In any case, thankfully the people in the situation were not injured, it is unfortunate that the animals were.

Only the scars of what having a gun held to you at a young age. And the mental trauma upon seeing your family dog lying dead in a pool of blood riddled with bullet holes. It should also be noted all they found was a gram of marijuana, hardly a bust. How many more times can we just pass these kinds of things off as an error in the fight for justice?

I also noticed that they shot off rounds into the dog before everyone in the house was contained, a bullet could have easily gone through the wall into a child's bedroom.

What's not excusable is that these men get off on seeing people defenseless, like the man when he noticed his dog was dead. It's a power trip that I know very well, and it's nothing but evil. And our tax dollars went into the whole operation, from the video tape being used to the bullets in the dog's bodies. It's kind of hard not to bash the police departments of america as a whole, especially when there is little faith anything will be done about this.

I know this is unrelated, but i wanted to share this anyway..

My ex wife's brother Richard caught his girlfriend with another man at a bar. He was fighting with the man when a deputy sheriff arrived on the scene. Richard grabbed his girlfriend Sharon and pulled out a knife (according to the report).

The deputy shot both of them dead. Richard took three bullets in his torso, and Sharon took one bullet in the arm and one in her hip. The one in her hip ricochet off her pelvic bone into her organs. Sharon had a young son and daughter.

The deputy was put on paid leave pending an investigation. We moved out of town before hearing what (if any) action was taken against the deputy.

some of you hippie children are so silly and simple minded.

its fucked up that they shot a dog, but it doesn't mean that all cops are 'pigs' or 'evil' or whatever broad category you wish to use to separate yourself from them.

im sure you won't be saying 'fuck the police' when they're the first to arrive at the scene of the accident where you got hit by a drunk driver, or when they are busting somebody selling crack in your neighborhood. or busting up dog-fighting rings or investigating a murder.

instead of blaming the cops for raiding somebody's house because of weed, try blaming those responsible. the politicians that uphold anti-cannabis laws. then, blame yourself for not doing more to be an active constituent. the officers involved have no say in where they are sent to work. it's not as if the average cop wakes up and thinks, 'hey, i'm going to ruin somebody's life today because of a bogus law. im going to make it sooo hard on those dirty hippies' the police are a scapegoat because they do their job, which is to enforce the laws on the books. they didn't write the law, and in most cases (look up Law Enforcement Against Prohibition or LEAP) officers are for lowering the priority on marijuana

fuck the police? - excuse the pun, but it's a fucking 'cop out'

edited- sorry for the rant. but blame the individual officer that fired in the house. blame the police chief. but dont pretend that all cops are like that.

In every big city I've ever lived in, the police held a more active role in revenue collection through civil enforcements while allowing crime ridden areas to go unpoliced. The fact is joining the police force requires a certain personality type, which is generally authoritarian, and several of those will become a threat to the safety of the public.

Police are very necessary, but the way the police force is organised in the US, fuck those assholes.

The Calvo incident shows what can go wrong when you get mixed up in a scheme that you had nothing to do with. These kinds of raids can happen to anyone.

Police discovered the pot in Arizona and hand delivered it to the home of Mayor Calvo.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/30/AR2008073003299.html

    Excerpt:

"The investigation that led police to their house in the 8500 block of Edmonston Road began in Arizona, officials said. There, a police dog at a shipping facility identified the package as being filled with marijuana. Prince George's officers posed as deliverymen and brought it to Calvo's home."
