An ongoing study at New York University using psilocybin to induce deep introspection in cancer patients, has left each patient wanting to do more psilocybin. The study has been very successful in getting cancer patients to deal with their terminal conditions, with only one dose in a carefully controlled setting. The patients have reported positive changes in their attitudes that continue on far beyond the "trip" lasting for many months. Other similar studies have reported similar results, encouraging other psychiatrists to consider using psychedelics as part of their patient's therapy. In the NYU study every participant requested another "trip", even though the study was limited to one dose per patient. So LSD and psilocybin are finally gaining the respect they deserve as being beneficial if used properly. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/23/psychedelic-research-on-t_n_549337.html
Yeah, probably. LSD's original place was in the therapist's office. I would be kind of freaked out if my therapist suggested I do drop acid in his office, but I feel that as a psychological tool psychoactives are unmatched. Legalize it!!!!
thats really interesting. kindof a shame that the government wont let all the other terminally ill patients take psilocybin
Ugh, I need to find some more LSD, trips are such amazing things for introspection and can vastly improve yor mindset about difficult situations. Im so sick of the way things are run.
everything is mutating and killing you don't forget these are terminal patients who have had a lot of time to think about the fact that they will be dead soon, and have some degree of acceptance of this. I think someone tripping on psilocybin for their first time on their deathbed could be a breathtakingly beautiful thing . . . just to see the understanding and joy in their eyes ego dying is good training for body dying i think
you can use "tripping" as a "tool" to unlock areas of your mind and explore them that you were not normally able to access.
That's good to here that these kind of studies are happening on American Soil. And there many a beneficial thing that can come from psychedelics. It is sad however that our government will never let it get mush beyond that. The government is very scared of psychedelics, and not just because of it's mind opening potential. Most of the fear stems from the potential of the, for lack of a better word, 'Mason like' mind control potential of psychedelics. There a some nut jobs out there, and even more people who are looking for someone to follow. It's quite a shame really, because as a result of this they really are just keeping psychedelics out of an arena that could greatly benefiting from thier use while it's still on the streets, fairly easily accessible to these 'nut jobs'.
Brilliant article thanks for sharing - im totally convinced by psychedelic psychotherapy and healing within in it..
