OK my family is very old school, they don't know that I am a practicing Nudist and would freak if the found out, my Mom said herself that she thinks "Nudists are crazy".

When I was younger I still loved to be Nude, I had a friend back then who's name was Aisha (she was 1 year older than me) and we had known each other for a long time. Whenever she came over to my house or I went over to her's we would get naked and play in the house and backyard and neither of our families cared even though we were a Nude Boy and Nude Girl.

This went on untill I was about 9 and she moved away, for a few years now I've still been going Nude in my room but my parents now freak out when I'm so much as in my Boxers. Why did things suddenly change?

    Why is...

    Nude Child= Cute and Innocent

    and

    Nude Teen or Adult= Wrong

It was OK when I was 9 why is it bad now that I'm 17?

I can't believe they let you do it till you were 9... Saying that I don't know why, but it has to deal with being able to be sexually active. That much I do know. I like the idea of nudists, but have no place to practice it or time for that matter.

I was in the 7-9 range, I know she moved before I was 10.

But I'm in my house, its not like I'm going to go walking around the house masterbating.

    Hi,

    > It was OK when I was 9 why is it bad now that I'm 17?

of course we all know it is ok at any age, as long as you care not to be incommode to others. But maybe your mother isn't able to share this liberal rating due to own experiences and valences. Probably you are right: kids count as innocent, so there is nor reason to cover up, but adolescents and adults (re)present secual maturity, which is something to "hide" for a lot of people. Something "dangerous" so to say (though it's a wonderful gift).

    > I can't believe they let you do it till you were 9...

why not? In our childhood my brother and me were always free (not told, just free) to undress while playing etc, in our house and around, also at our neighbours' sites. Some other kids around too. I remember this lasted till the end of my primary school thime, so i was 10 and my brother 12 then. I verified this some time ago by checking my parent's photo albums. Anyway, as i remember, the "stop" didn't come from our parents, but just happened, as we got different circles of friends due to visiting different schools. My brother renounced nudism cmpletely then, and does by today. He thinks i'm nuts that i still go naked now and then ;-)

Wow you were lucky, I just put it to my Mom and Dad are from the "old country" and have less tolerence for certin things.

I just wish I could tell them so I could not have to be in constart fear of "what if I forget to lock the door" or "what if I accedently leave my room naked".

I don't get why it's so looked down upon. It's just the human body. Everybody connects nudism with either masturbation or sex... I bet if my parents caught me naked (and not in the shower) they'd assume that's what I was doing.

When you live on your own and maybe have roommates or something or even with a significant other then you have to respect them as well. Being nude just does not work for some people especially if its all the time. At 9 its still cute because you haven't hit puberty yet

The story is oh-so-cute and brings back memories for me. Childhood embodies innocence, wonder and beauty — we all had it. The moment you get to your teens things naturally change.

Like most youngsters I too was nude from about 6 to 12 and my friends would come over and we'd play in a huge wooden engine box in the backyard that Ford engines were shipped into to Australia from overseas. We'd play with discarded TVs, radios and telephones and make roaring, shrieking, jabbering noises like we were blasting off to the moon — naked. They were good days. Then puberty came and my sister (from Mum's first marriage) was the first (and still the only one) in the house to announce that I should "cover up!". Dad couldn't care less. In 1972 she married and moved out, straight into an ultra-conservative Catholic family where nudity — even swimwear — is viewed outrageously as "crude and in poor taste". Believe me, she had the audacity two years ago to criticise Tahitians swimming in next to nothing because that's what she saw when she stepped off a cruise — it didn't meet with her approval.

So me and Siss don't really get on — we are poles apart. But what has gone on is that I have remained a nudist from 'way back when', with my Mum's full blessing, as she believed I should have a 'free run' of getting around however I wish to. We lived close to the beach in those days so I pretty much learnt to swim, surf and bodyboard all in the nude, and I still do all of those when time and weather allows. I see kids ripping up and down the nude beach and reflect on the time when I was like that — free and uninhibited. Looking at their parents, who are also nudists, I just hope earnestly that nothing stands in the way of their desire to remain nudists — if they please — as they grow up.

Because one puberty is reached sexuality enters the picture with extreme force. I.e nudity being illegal.

Omar El Cubano, Go for it! Live it up. Go all the way from 18 to 88! :p
I can't believe how held back so many youngsters are: even my neighbour's boy, 16, is a nudist in his own time and place — a virtual "pioneer" compared to many of those on this forum. Attitudes have got to change.

    Hi Toka Boka,

this whole thing was'nt such a big deal as it might sound. Just being a child in a liberal setting with few restrictions. On the other hand my brother today hates it. I thinks it was weird to let us children run around stark naked and feels mortyfied. For example he said some day i can have all the family photo albums, as he can't show them to anyone (Such a nonsense, he should be proud that he could grow up in an open atmosphere).

You are 15, i guess this is a hard age to turn out as a nudist. Too old to be the innocent naked child, and too young to be free from the need to care about your parents' demurs.

But you're living in a big country. Maybe you can look out in your friend's circles if some would accept you staying nude with them, for example when you go for a swim in a lake. When i was in the same age, i had an (older) boyfriend who wasn't into nude recreation, but when i went for a swim with my buddies or schoolmates, i always kept on skinnydipping. Some of them even thought i didn't own any bathing gear ;-)

    take care.

That's bullshit. Nudists certainly don't connect their activity with sex or masturbation. Maybe your sick, perverted American culture does but not others.

Public sex and public masturbation are off-limits in nudist environments, and if anybody catches you in the act you will be hounded out and most likely reported to the police.

There is a time for that sort of behaviour, and the beach and family campgrounds and resorts are NOT the place for it.

    Hi Omar,

His observation is not quite true. I know a lot of textiles who don't associate nudity or nudism with sex or perversion, but they themselves would not join in the lifestyle.
