Hey guys whats up. I've had dreads for about 1 month and a half now and I want to put stuff in em. I see a lot of people have like a tie around a dread with like thread or yarn. I was just wondering what the best thing is to use to keep it on there tight and how you go about putting it on. thanks

    1.5 months?
you don't have dreads yet. Perhaps you could remove the tails of cats and attach them to your scalp... people would be like "ohhhhh thats a nice dread" what they won't realize is thats actually Snaggle Puss's tail.

Would be a fun way to Zaz up your clumps of 1.5month old hair

Wraps were disastrous for me in my young dreads, they made them stay really thin, but they got fat where the wrap wasn't so you had all these sharp transitions between fat wavy dreads and thin straight dreads. I'd give it a few months until they approach their target fatness before I wrapped.

if you want to wrap at this stage, avoid wool yarn. it felts and your dread will actually eat it and you will never see it again.

go for breathe-able fibers so your hair still dries out and shit like that. so cotton embroidery floss or thick thread (used for cross-stitching and the like... go to a craft store and ask them where embroidery floss is and if they're even remotely intelligent/good at their job they'll know what you mean). or any yarn like cotton or even acrylic i suppose.

    hope that helps a bit.

I wrapped one of my dreads with cotton thread right at the beginning. The wrapped part is about 5-6mm, the rest of the dread goes up to an inch. Don't do it now ^^ Or do it now but do it loosely. Or do it now if you don't mind that section being tiny.

I wrapped up some loose hair around my ear that refused to dread and left it for a week or two, and it was nice and clumpy when I took it off. My hair was probably around five/six months though. I say wait a few more months, let your hair sort itself out on it's own first.
