Why not? Every time I go out and I feel better over some new tough surface I think "Yessss!" I mean, going barefoot means conditioning and doing it over and over so you get better at it. Like a sport. This is just barefoot walking. Barefoot runners are already atheletes. Where are my Wheaties?
You're feet should get accustomed to rough surfaces very quickly. My only advice is - look at the ground if you're in new terrain. My fear isn't stones or broken glass, it's sleeping snakes and dog shit. You're not a real barefooter until you've felt the delight of soft dog shit squelching between your toes.
I don't know how big goose shit is, but pigeon shit is pretty much as big as small dog shit, so it counts!
This all got off topic. The more continuing time I spend barefoot (being out of work), the more better I feel and the tougher my soles get so I can walk over tougher surfaces. At the end of a long walk I really feel like I acomplished something. It really feels like sport training.
