Don't get over excited folks, there's still the issue of needing 50+1 votes come election day.

I think it is worth getting excited over, even if it fails, this is a HUGE step in the right direction!

the future brings.. Using Cannabis for erosion control, soon there will be so much ditchweed growing, it will ruin sensimilla in California forever, and the only place youll find hi-tec seedless weed will be indoors.. (and hella' over priced... Watch what you wish for...[IMG]

With California's budget issues expect them to tightly control its cultivation and sale in the case of legalization because the point to it will almost certainly be as a means of pulling the state away from the verge of bankruptcy. That would tend to preclude private greenhouses except where sanctioned by the good state of California--- at a hefty price- both for certification and taxes from its sale. Cultivating or selling pot without the required licenses, certificates, inspections, deflections, infections, bribes and kickbacks could feasibly still be as big a felony as selling it now because you'd be depriving the government of revenue.... and of course there's the "necessary" sparkling new taxpayer funded bureaucracy erected to administer the new policy.

Be careful what you wish for...

true, just like it's highly illegal to make/sell moonshine.... that doesn't stop some folks though. i just hope this law passes, and california goes about it in the right way, to set a good example and show that it wouldn't be so bad at all.

This is honestly what worries me the most, the segment of population with the highest percent of people who would support this is also the one that constantly goes "I'm not going to vote, I'm too lazy to read up on the issues so I'm just going to complain voting doesn't change anything and proceed not to vote"

all I can think about is the 25 square foot plot for pot. what if you multi layered it? can it go up to the sky?

square feet means square feet, 1 dimension... if it were multi-dimensional they'd say cubic feet. i'm sure they thought of that too when they were writing the initiative lol

youre giving the politicians too much credit. they very well may have overlooked that fact.

    LOL
but that's exactly what he's saying... they've given no indicator to the volume of the area which is legal... only square feet, meaning no actual area in terms of height is given... so theoretically unless the bill itself is more specific than the details given here, it would be legal indeed to make the room 25x25 (or 5x5?) while reaching ∞ into the sky... pot isn't two dimensional, you can't grow it in an area 25 square feet if there is no depth...

they probably meant 5'x5' come to think of it. and having several platforms that are 5'x5' would break the law. (someone should try it anyway)
they'll probably get people growing ginormous trees, super-weed that's like 30 feet tall, in a 5'x5' area...then comes the law stating how tall it can be.
    and i'm a girl btw :p
