Went veggie a while back and it's been good. The local pizza shop was offering $8 larges with chicken, vs $14 for no chicken, so I sighed and said I'd just pick it off. But then when it came time to eat, I had a revelation...it's great to be veggie in general, but in certain circumstances it's really not worth it. For one thing, the chicken was already dead and cooked. For another, chicken is kind of good for you, compared with pork, for instance. For another, I would have had to make a scene if I meticulously picked off all the pieces. And finally, it would taste really, really good to eat the chicken. And it did. So I think at least for me, it's great to order veggie meals and be mostly veggie, but being overly-zealous in certain circumstances causes unnecessary pain and is counterproductive. Thoughts?
I think vegetarianism is a sublime ideal - it's commendable to attempt to live a life that reduces harm to other sentient beings, but sometimes, the basic fact that life feeds on life is unavoidable.
tsk tsk!! haha jk but the "it's already dead" argument is pretty lame. eat meat with moderation, thats what i do. I've found that eating too much meat like when i was young, my insides feel gross and clogged. and i feel bad/guilty for eating animals. so if you're not that inclined to oppose meat, might as well not be. i guess.
I don't eat meat for many reasons. But, mainly I don't want to eat something that was living and breathing just like me, and was chopped up and cooked. Besides, chicken is farmed terribly and sold for stupidly cheap prices. I would rather pay more, than know the poor conditions that animal lived in.
I agree that you should find out about chickens before eating them. Who wants to eat a chicken that was unhappy in life before it ended up on your fork?
cuz demand strings along supply and vice versa. by eating meat, you're acknowledging the killing of animals. plus why would you want to digest rotting flesh? cuz it has flavor that is nice to your tongue buds?
All my meat comes from the local butchers, could be traced back to the farm if I was so anal. Nothing better then the taste of cooked murder though :drool5: The worst are the terrorist veggies. Anyone ever been spat on for eating meat? Not fucking funny. Threw it in her face. Fair enough it was Subway so it didnt even really count as meat but not taking that shit. I know a few people who call themselves vegetarians but still eat chicken ok then...youre not a vegetarian.
True, I could have paid $6 more to make a statement. Well it wasn't rotting, but yes, it tastes good.
There's this idea out there that a lot of veggies are self-righteous. I've found sooo many more meat eaters who give me a hard time for not eating meat than vice versa. Just my experience.
Yep, same here. I was out with my mother recently who eats meat, and she became cross with me because the place she wanted to go and eat had no vegetarian options. So my choice not to eat meat, was 'stupid'.
No I didnt say that at all. A lot of my friends are vegetarians, nothing against veggies. Anyone who feels the need to take time out of their lives to ridicule someone for something that they eat has some serious problems though
I could never even imagine becoming a vegetarian If I don't have my steak and potatoes nightly I get agitated (you can replace the steak with every variety of meat, fish, and poultry) Also, recently I've been buying those small roasted chickens at shaws market for $7.99 and they're delicious H
I like having meat for dinner, but I recently saw a documentary on how cattle and chickens are raised in commercial opperations and it was disgusting and sad. There's an organic open range meat shop near me that I might start buying from. Atleast I know they live in a healthy environment.
*starts to salivate* I'm pretty sure my top 5 meals contain meat and if the Caesar salad dressing I get on my salad contains anchovies my top 10 possibly.
