Holy shit, last night is going to be a big deal. So, the fact that they censored every mention of muhammed, censored the image of him, and censored the last minute of the show, yeah, that wasn't satire. It appears that south park presented the episode uncensored, and then, without telling Matt and Trey the episode was censored. This is stated on the south park website, and comedy central confirmed it this morning. South park is not being allowed to display their original episode online. This could have been the biggest thing Matt and Trey ever did, but comedy central decided to comply with the terrorists' demands (not a fucking exageration, they are literaly Islamic extreamists) and pussy out of a situation. This is beond fucked up. According to comedy central, we are allowed to make fun of cripples, retards, budhists, Christians, hindus, fat kids, Jews, mexicans, gays, Steve Irwin, Mormons, Scientology, beastiality, child abduction, midgets, Asians, child molesters, gingers, stem cell reserch, aids, the pope, Nazis, Indians, canadians, the virgin Mary, alchoholics anonomus, global warming, breast cancer and Krishna, and make a show where an 8 year old cripple has sex with a prostitute. But show muhommed's face? No, we won't do that because it's offensive. This was not Matt and treys choice, they had the right to do this if they wanted to, they were in danger. But their work was tampered with against their will to comply with terrorist threats. Fuck comedy central, and fuck Mohammed.
Mabey, but in a few weeks I may not have any reason to watch CC anymore. It was stated very bluntly and openly in episodes 200 and 201 (as well as 201's trailer) that "if you don't show muhommed, it will be the end of south park!" I may be reading into it, but I think it's possible that we only have a few weeks left with them. (at least on comedy central) Idk, we'll see how it all pans out.
Maybe spreading the word and e-mailing Matt and Trey in support of them leaving Comedy Central would be sufficient. Man, I remember in the early days when Comedy Central was the best channel on TV. It's complete ass now in comparison.
Yeah, I emailed them and anyone else who gives a shit should too. But hopefully this draws as much media attention and all around critisizem as I expect it too, and hopefully we get to see it uncensored. But I agree, comedy central has gotten pretty lame.
K, this answers most of my questions. It's sad really, but this is the speech given today by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. "In the 14 years we’ve been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn’t stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn’t some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle’s customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn’t mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We’ll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we’ll see what happens to it." none of the bleeping was a joke, and the image of muhammed wasn't censored, but only because CC denied their request to show it in the first place. I find the part about Kyle's speech very depressing. Does Islam really have that much power over us?
Wow. Really? Wow. I thought, for a second, that people had grown the fuck up. Come out of the cave brave human, and witness comedy: http://tvshack.net/tv/South_Park/season_13/episode_5/
Man, I've loved South Park for as long as I can remember. It is a multilayered show like Duck pointed out, when I was a kid I was laughing at the immature exterior. As I grew older I found the re-watchability of the series amazing as it had a whole new meaning. I've since come to love their particular brand of satire, especially since it reminded me of Monty Python which I started watching a couple years before SP. I've probably watched the entire series more than I'd care to admit and I am still loving the new episodes as they come out. I have to watch them online though on allsp.com as the Comedy Central site doesn't stream to Canada. I'd normally buy the seasons but I'm strapped for cash and I've heard Trey and Matt say they were behind pirating media before, so I figure they won't mind... seeing as I've been a lifetime fan.
No, the man who does cheifs voice was a scientologist and he left because he was upset over how SP portrayed his faith. So they made him a pedo in some juvenile spiteful gay shit.
yeah, Trey and Matt can be juvenile, but they've admitted it. They burned chef because Isaac was willing to be a part of their jokes until it was HIS faith that fell under fire. He should have known that nothing was sacred in that job. They poke fun at how his faith changed him and compare the chef character to L. Ron Hubbard and his sketchy adventure club tie ins. I felt that they ultimately complimented Isaac and his work even if they really do roast him.
Exactly. They even say in the end to remember him for who he was, not who he became after being brainwashed.
Yeah, I know. That episode was so funneh. For some reason, I don't even know why, but my friends and I would gather - put SP on mute when we were high, and start playing rap music while watching SP. LOL. You just have to try it. I'm so serious. Especially old episodes. It's just uncanny.
