Dubstep

Ok, I've been gone a long time and recently Halifax has been hit with a dance music called "Dubstep". It's all over the world but it's just getting popular here now.
It's fun to dance to and is not your typical electronic music.
Anyone else into Dub?

Can't say i'm a HUUUGE fan, but I got respect for the scene, enough in fact that the next film I'm working on is Dub themed.

 

I like dubstep when its used more artsy instead of all gangsta-y if u know what i mean.
I totally dig the artists Burial and Martyn.

 

ESKMO is da shit. and yeah, I don't like Thug dub either

 

I got my hands on Burials "Untrue" the other day and loved it, but i haven't gotten much further into this genre yet

I was hooked on this shit heavy a few months ago but I never got any releases or anything. Why does everyone say borgore ruined it? I like his shit even though the lyrical parts usually suck, but when the beat drops its sick.

 

I like the instrumental dub mostly I guess. I can't say I was a huge fan of that nympho song I just heard.

 

I honestly wasn't a huge fan when I first discovered it, but I've come around and I really like it now.

 

Dub is like a plague to the free party scenes...has no place at raves at all

I like a bit of clownstep at home sometimes though

First time hearing Burial I was blown out of my mind with creepiness. As for the rest of more straight dubstep it's also awe capturing. It's badass.

 

What film are you working on? Filming in Halifax?

 

You kiddin me? Dub definiately has a place in raves, it has it's own rave scene even. Dub heads are among the most hardcore when it comes to rocking out.

 

Yes it'll be filmed in Halifax and Antigonish N.S.
I can't say much yet except that it is dub themed will involve ninjas and is pushing eco awareness and activism festivals. I'll post more as we film.

Cool dude. I'm leaving to Chicoutimi, Qc for 4 months in the next 6 days to work for an ecological cooperative that is opening a youth hostel. We should network. I could send all the interesting people passing through during their travels your way or something.

 

they do play dubstep in our "rave" scene here occasionally, but its that thug shit. Everyone'll be partyin it up, but when those dub beats come everyone leaves. well except the badasses that ravers dont really like for real reasons. theyre usually boring haters that kill plur

I can totally see that. Where I live DUB is a direct tie with PLUR it's a real nice scene.
