Robert Service wrote his Kipling-que(sp.) poems back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. He was one of my first poetry loves after Oscar Wilde and Edgar Allen Poe.

T.S. Eliot and Lord Wilmot and Frost, Sandburg and Shakespeare, Masters, Whitman and Bryon.

"And what rough beast slouches towards Jerusalem?" (Its time come at last.)
Name the poet-- get a free pussy cat.

    Thudly has spoken and promised.

no i think they don't like the bands you named and expressed themselves in a bit rude and childish way.

People seem a little hostile. I like Styx and BOC. I just wanted to share my experience with me. It's the only huge concert I've ever been to.

go to ozzfest and see ozzy. I admit he and BLS are the only good bands worth seeing but since they're both playing on second stage you can buy cheap tickets and get right infront of the stage. You'll see how much better things are outside of styx.

It might be because this isn't the right forum for this. You might find better reception in the music forum instead of the hippie one.

It's speculation on my part, who knows.

    more 70s.
It was a dinosaur tour, so what?
I saw Steppenwolf and Peter Paul and Mary in the 80s, and they were good, fun shows.
I saw Pete Seeger a few years ago (five or so)
    Catch most Arlo G tours.
and well, hell, isn't the Dead a dino tour of sorts?

the current dino tours are a chance for my son to see the music he hears in the house.
If the tix were not so prohibitive, I'd take him to CSNY at Red Rocks in a heartbeat. (but I can take him to several local shows for the cost, and he'd rather, in final anaysis, see more music.)

The last time I saw BOC was '74. They were supposed to be the Headliner.

    Didn't work-out that way......

The band I wanted to see had been on In Concert, but I'd missed that show...one of few, I'd missed....but, I did read about the band's appearance, in Circus, a few weeks later.

One day, posters started showin'-up, around town (Northern Central PA). THAT BAND was gonna be playing at Lock Haven State College!! I started runnin'-down all o' my concert-buds, tellin' 'em "We GOTTA GO!!!!" No one was familiar with the band I wanted to see, but they were familiar with BOC (the Headliner), since we'd all gotten into them, back, when their first-album had come out.

Eventually, I'd rounded-up (about) 8 people....'cause (after all) the tickets were (about) $8!!!!!!....and, no one was about to spend THAT kind o' money, unless it was a really-good-band! I promised them it'd be worth it.

That night, the eight-of-us piled-into Rick's Chevy-van....and, the smoking began....for the 45-minute drive, West! Being one o' the first, into the back o' his van, got you a spot on the sofa he had, back there! :D Eventually, we'd arrived....Lock Haven State College....and, headed for their basketball-gymnasium (where they had their concerts). We parked ourselves at the back-end of the gym, 'cause that's where the (only) folded-out bleachers were folded-out...and, we didn't feel like standing-around...for obvious-reasons.

Eventually, the first band came on.....

    RUSH!!!!!!!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mav12Hm8fSs&feature=related"]YouTube- Rush - Finding my Way

....and, they proceeded to get everyone wound-UP, 'cause...if you remember...their first-album was pretty-much, straight-ahead rock 'n roll!!! So far...I'm feelin' pretty proud o' myself...everyone's havin' a good time....'cause we did appreciate a good-show with our music!!

Rush finished, and their roadies cleared-the-stage.

Then, the roadies for the next-band (the one I wanted to see) came-out...some o' the hardest-lookin' roadies we'd ever seen; Blacks & Puerto Ricans. They proceeded to set-up mics, and dragged-out TWO HUGE Gothic-lookin' candleabras; one for either end of the stage....and a big logo was lowered (back-center) that we couldn't see....'cause it wasn't lit-up. The roadies cleared-out...things quiet-down...and, everyone's waiting. Then...a voice THUNDERED OUT....

"YOU WANTED THE BEST! YOU GOT IT!! KISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

When their set ended, my friends are lookin' at ME, askin' "What the fuck was THAT??!!!!"

(All-in-all, we'd eventually-agreed it was one o' our most-memorable concerts. We were huge Cooper-fans, at the time.)

Next, BOC came on. We wandered up-front....for about 15 minutes...and, left...like most o' the crowd. We figured we'd GOTTEN our money's-worth.

About a month, later...in the new Circus...I'd read that BOC had dropped KISS from their tour....and, we knew why!! :D

I remember being (somewhat) leery about takin' my 13-year-old son to that near-Halloween Alice Cooper show ('86), at McNichols Arena...only to find ENTIRE-FAMILIES doing the same thing; takin' their kids to see COOPER!!!
