I was shopping at Goodwill and a woman came up and smiled and said hi, so I said hi back. Then about 20 min. later I was in wal mart, and the same woman was in there and as I was walking past she turned around and said "I love how you go with no shoes". I said I loved going barefoot and that I actually had no shoes either. She then followed with "More people should go barefoot"! I was completely floored! Odd thing was she was wearing these heavy black boots???? Oh well, it was an awesome compliment. Then later at a gas station I got a funny comment from a guy standing in line... he turned around suddenly like I had frightened him and said, "I didn't even hear you get into line behind me and now I know why. You're barefoot!" I laughed and told him to have a nice day as he paid for his things and left. Great start to 2010! BTW, this is day 2 completely barefoot. I'm going to try to crack 100 this year.
Thats vey cool. And enjoy the 100 or more days barefooting (hopefully lots more). Last year i got in about 120 consecutive days. Started again the third week in March and still going even tho it got back down to the 50's this week. Its funny how when I go into some places I am apprehensive about reactions but in a way that makes the experience more fun. No shoes = no choice. Nice that you had 2 good experiences.
That is awesome dude! It is very rare that you will get a positive comment like that! Happy barefooting!
Sunday, someone passing me on a bicycle called out 'Oh, bare feet, nice, I'm jealous!' So I called back 'Well take off your shoes!' She'd gone too far past though to hear what she replied... It's funny and a bit sad how many people never even think of going barefoot outside and/or in public, it's that rare here.
I went to the Post Office a few days ago. As I was leaving a guy saw me and yelled, "Hey Dude, I love the bare feet." I just said "Thanks" and continued. It was sorta cool to hear a loud SUPPORTIVE comment though!
It certainly is kind of funny, that positive remarks come from shod people, like the "Hey, cool! He's barefoot!" I heard from one of two punk guys sitting on a blanket in a small town ped zone shopping street yesterday... It'd be even cooler, if those people were to try it out themselves, becoming future barefooters. Wiggling bare and happy toes, hoping for more barefooters to meet in the warmer months, ~*Ganesha*~
