I was wondering, as I am not gay, is it normal your first time to be a top or a bottom? I know there are no rules and it's probably normal for your first time to be either, but I was wondering if one was more typical than the other?

One of my good friends who is gay was a bottom the first time he had sex.

Hum, if you had two first timers there might not be any sex cause they'd both be trying to figure out who did what to whom and when. OK, thats a BS kinda answer cause in reality its gonna come down to the comfort and respect the guys have for each other. AND, if its a first time they might not even think about top/bottom stuff but instead do less invasive play...oral, masturbation, whatever. Lots of factors could play into the top/bottom equation including personal preference of one or the other. Cool that you ask though because that reflects the respect you have for other people. I can't speak for everyone--and I'm not going to try--but it seems to me like there is lots of sex going on that doesn't fit into "top" and "bottom" categories.

One thing I have noticed in visiting bath houses is that there seem to be many more bottoms there than tops. I don't know if the men who go to these places are necessarily typical of all men who have sex with men, but I've noticed a clear pattern.
