We are looking for like-minded people who know what’s going on in the world these days (economy, earth changes, etc.), and may want or need a good place to bug out and/or join a community of people who can help each other make it through the coming storm(s). We have 40 acres in the New Mexico mountains and are offering 10 acres for long term lease. The land is very remote, yet accessible. There is no grid (nearest electricity is 15 miles away), but plenty of sunshine for solar power. (We’ve been living off the grid for several years now, it’s easy and less expensive than most would have you believe.) There is abundant game (elk, deer, antelope, birds), water, firewood and natural building materials. We’ve just finished our website, (THIS IS NOT A COMMERCIAL SITE!), with lots of gallery pictures, links to news articles and videos, and more! Please stop by and say hello!
Very cool, I was in Quartzsite last year hanging with a few elders of the Living Light, who's idea was of that... or of similar cause. I've been scouting myself for the last two years on that cause and have only come up with New Mexico being about, well, the best area, crop/game/land/weather wise to build on. More of offering people the land, and the teachings to build an off the grid, sustainable living, as well as providing a safe haven for those on the road... for then, and whatever is to come.. and yes.. it's coming. I'll check out the site.. currently I'm posted in the southeast of the states, with an expectation of summer to be here on the east coast. I would love to hear more about this.. cause I have a lot to offer on a cause such as this, and love the desert life. If there is Aspen about, you can build anything.
Plz do not use live URLs in your posts. They will be removed and the Poster will be banned. These are the rules of this site.. Read The Guidelines!! Thanks sh
OK, I'm confused...What's a "live URL", as opposed to a dead one? And I thought the rule was "no outside links in sigs". That's why I don't link to Vermin's page.
before the link was erased - i did get to view photos of their property . oh , it's apparently a beautiful place to starve . high-elevation desert , mts rising in the distance , sparse vegetation - small bush-like trees (firewood) and cactus . no photo of water . no photo of water . a person would need the wisdom of a high-desert native to grow food there ??- i don't know . some irrigation water would be nice . even the ancient people of that area settled along the streams and rivers . places of good water make happiness and corn and beans .
#7............It's fine to post an occasional interesting link to another website, in the context of a thread's subject, but to only do that or to do it repeatedly is not allowed. If you have your own website, you can put the URL in your profile and a link will be posted to your site in every post you make so there is no reason to add it to your posts, signature or PMs.
But it looks like the link that was removed in the first post of this thread was certainly within the context of the thread. Why was it removed?
The sparse inhabitants are mostly skinny dogs, fat chicks with cankles, wild eyed tweekers or people that simply dropped off the map and sunk into whatever was their mental illness of choice. I found out that the isolated life has the potential to drive me straight to Batschitzville.
We're also in the New Mexico mountains, outside of Taos in Taos Canyon. We're on 300 acres now, but we're losing the lease on our cabin indefinitely. We'd love to come take a look at what you've got. I can't find a working url or email for you. drop me a line if you've still got space family at cagefreefamily dot com
I want to team up with some crusty street kid/train rider wandering types, and we all pitch in to make payments on some land, and try to grow shit and live off the land. and make moonshine and homegrown ganja n' stuff and get fucked up all the time. that would be fun. amateur subsistence farming + lots or partying, or something. don't know if the desert's a great place for such a thing--the idea is to have land that produces so you can live off of your crops & livestock and such and not have to work for anybody, right? (or at least work less?) and hopefully not *too* far from some sort of city where one could go in times of boredom. isolation's good here and there but can just get plain ole boring after a while. can't say it makes me crazy or anything, just bored. Self-sufficiency is the more attractive idea than isolation, I think.
