I a lot of people have a lot of mixed feelings about pot and its effects Some say benefits out-weigh the health risks and the cons... Other say that the health risks and the bad part about using marijuana out-weighs the good and people should not smoke it as often. I wanted to see what people personally think first hand. What do you think? What are the pros of marijuana? what are the cons of marijuana? long-run effects? short term effects? no-effects? Let the world know.
lol so your sayin the pro's are fuckin obvious b/c marijuana is awesome and the cons are that it brings up a stream of endless debates. The cons can be looked at positively too, some people like to debate, I believe that people on a (sober) daily basis also deal with a stream of endless debates about things, but they don't realize it as much... Endless debates stemming from marijuana are usually of psychedelic nature.... more of a insightful type of thought provoking thinking that brings up questions about life to your awareness which you would normally not think about. For example: "NOW comes by quicker than you realize! Every time I realize its ‘now’ im like 'damnnn! Wasn’t it now a second ago?' ...'Can’t I have some preparation time before the new ‘now’? ..."some recovery time or something' ...."think about it" ..."Try to remember, when the last time it was 'now' was??" "...now ?"
Pro= 1.takes away pain very efficiently.2. Makes my mind run wild with hugely funny scenarios. 3. Very relaxing. 4.gives me great pleasure seeing myself do stupid shit. 5.Hasn't seemed to affect my -uh -my Cons=1.Probably not good for my lungs.
Pros: obvious recreational, spiritual, and medicinal uses. Cons: illegal, taboo (to some), possible short term memory loss
Hmm... interesting thread. Pros: brings people together, opens up topics of discussion that may not have been approached otherwise, medicinal uses (chronic pain, headaches, settling stomach during chemotherapy), relaxes muscles thereby relieving stress, promotes sharing (in my opinion). Cons: Hard on the lungs (but there are ways around this), still illegal, causes a ridiculous amount of people to take a trip through our justice system thereby wasting tax dollars and police officer's time. Both my parents are cops, and my mother has to do Chemotherapy every month. My brother was caught with 50 pounds of weed, so they weren't too thrilled about that, but they've loosened up a lot about the drug. I think they, like many others, had negative perceptions of the drug, and stereotyped users of the drug in the same way anti-pot propaganda does. Now, all of her children smoke weed, have gotten great educations, and are pursing there dreams/goals in life with gusto. I think it's definitely changed her perception about the drug, and I'm trying to get her to start using it with her chemo as soon as she retires (can't be an officer with weed in the system unfortunately). When it's all said and done, stoners aren't lazy, stupid, OR unproductive members of society. There are, however, lazy, stupid, unproductive members of society that also smoke weed.
Pros: 1. The way it makes you feel. 2. The pain relief/Health benefits for MMJ patients. 3. The ability to make awesome food when the munchies kick in. Cons: 1. If smoked, harsh on the lungs. 2. Short term memory loss (big time for me). 3. Munchies can make you fat. Marijuana in and of itself is not evil or dangerous, but people are. The system has made it illegal, there are drug wars over the money associated with weed, and some people abuse it so it may interfere with life. People fuck shit up. Marijuana is good. In my opinion. (Not to say everyone is bad, I don't believe that at all)
The biggest pro can also be the biggest con depending on who you are, & what your personality is like. If you use marijuana as a way to escape your problems, then once you're unable to have it, then you may feel as if you're going to go crazy without it. Speaking from experience, if this is something that could potentially happen to you, you have to learn to humble yourself. That's what I did. And by that I mean if you have it, that's fine, smoke it & relax. But if you can't have it, then don't stress about it, you'll get it when you most need it. There really aren't too many cons to smoking weed. You can't get cancer from smoking it, & there are no longterm health risks. Anyone telling you it kills brain cells is a fucking moron. Technically speaking, you lose brain cells every day, so marijuana has nothing to do with it. And I don't believe it's a gateway drug, or even a drug at all. For one, speaking strictly about myself & the people I know, we've never been tempted to go out & smoke crack or snort cocaine or whatever other shit is out there. And really, it's just a plant that, if you happen to roll it up & light it, there are some effects. Hell, one con could be that you may be more paranoid than usual, but after a year of smoking it, I don't have that problem anymore. So, at the end of the day, I'd just say sit back, smoke some bud, & relax.
Cons: You wake at 65 and wish you had put all that money in a pension fund. Atleast saved it for a nice cruise or whatnot.
I wasn't referring to you specifically, just people who may actually get to a point where they feel like that. It's all about budgeting, though. If I have money, I make sure I have enough for weed & anything else I want to buy, no matter what it is.
As with most things it's not a "one size fits all" thing. For me... Pros: It helps me relax and unwind.... helps me work physical and mental tension out and assists in dealing with insomnia. It does not seem to effect too severely my motor control. It gives me a great feeling of mild euphoria. Is not physically addictive. Cons... It greatly magnifies my tendency to be lazy and procrastinate important tasks and decisions. It makes me more easily distracted. Long term heavy use seems to erode my coping skills and makes me irritable, bringing out a bit of a powder keg personality. Tough to say much about health risks with authority though I have little doubt that smoking it affects breathing and lung capacity. Laziness resulting from heavy use could make a person turn away from a more active lifestyle. Combine laziness with munchies and the stage is set for binge eating of junk food and all the risks associated with that brand of slow poisoning.
Hey guys, check out the documentary "The Union". Excellent documentary that shows how legalizing hemp\ marijuana makes economic sense for this country.
There's also a great book out called "Cannibinomics" that is along the same lines. I think our country would see a lot of good come from legalizing hemp and cannabis
