Why write step one if theres no step two? lol... Ive never seen something that said step 1... end.

Yeah, unfortunately these forums have changed a bunch since the last time I was posting. Seems like now 80% of the people just kind of suck.

And if you havent noticed, i already stated that im not listening to people who just say stupid shit and tell me to cut my hair. Obviously thats something i can do but the whole point of the thread was to get ideas on what I should do, TO KEEP MY HAIR.

You might not have meant that negatively but idk. Just comes off like it is. I think it would be my parents job to decide what I deserve, since they actually know me, and no one on here knows anything about me except for what they have assumed from my posts.

Yeah they dont have to give me shit, but they do because they can.

It doesnt matter what the topic is anyway because you have nothing to contribute to it, and even if you DID I still wouldnt give half a shit what you have to say. Do your self a favor and stop wasting your life to post shit for me to read, and taking up space.

 

If this thread is in any way a representation of how you have talked about it with your parents, it isn't really surprising they aren't more lenient toward your hair.
Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make what they have to say any less valid, and certainly not wrong. You are ignoring everything that isn't what you want to hear.

 

1st thing made sense to me it was sarcasm, i found it funny the way it was phrased but obviously you wouldn't

and i knew that was coming across negativly thats why i put the comment in brackets in.

I'm sure you can agree with me if i said that your parents are and always have looked out for your best interests, perhaps they believe that dreads will effect your life in a negative way (it will by the way, they are always negative points to having dreads,) have you sat down with them to put forward your reasons to why you want your hair long and your interest in dreadlocks, and i dont mean things that start with your parents giving you shit about your hair, but rather you going to them and sitting them down, perhaps over a cup of tea, may help things if they see your making a mature decision that you have weighed all the options for

Sure you could say that, alot of the time my mom is looking out for my best interests TO MUCH, and its annoying. But as I said before and have been saying this isnt even about dreads. Its about me having long hair, which isnt even long at the moment. Its above my eyes unless i pull it down to my nose.

There are negative points to everything, mostly all due to other people who dont like something I (or anyone else) do/does, so i couldnt really care much.

I dont just sit down with my parents and talk. Thats just not how they are.

And I have talked to my mom about it, like i said before i really dont think my dad cares he just did cause my mom told him to. When I talked to her the other day and told her about how she was wrong about me agreeing to get my hair cut she knew she was wrong and was just like what ever.

And she has seen my hair very messy when i come home from school/ from the wind cause its really fucking windy where I live, and she didnt say anything. Its not like theyre freaking out about my hair its just theres certain times when they would be like YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR HAIR CUT! YOUR GOING. etc... but they havent done that since the last few times ive talked to my mom.

IDK. ill just keep saying stuff when ever they bring it up until they finally get what im saying. My parents arent good at having those kid of conversations because its always "im right your wrong" and not even worth having the convo in the first place.

my post was meant to point out that perhaps you deal with conflict in a similar way to your parents and could therefore re-evaluate your behaviour to achieve a more desirable outcome. it was not meant to be offensive. you chose to interpret it in the most negative way possible and get defensive, which sort of proved my point.

my most recent post (re: douche bag) was where the insult was. i'm a fairly direct person. if i intend to express scorn, i'll probably call you a douche bag. if i say 'sounds like you're kinda like your parents' i mean, 'sounds like you're kinda like your parents'. nothing more, nothing less. very fucking zen, no?

Well I didn't read all the replies, but I do think you're spoiled and sound very ungrateful. I don't mean to insult you, but I am not going to be bought a car, nobody is going to pay for my tattoo (only me)which I cant have until I move out, and I am not also allowed to have piercings. I am not complaining, I'm only saying I think the whole dread thing is dumb, but be happy you have all that other stuff

Im not ungrateful, its just something ive been expecting and wanted to pick my car, since it is infact going to be my car. Its like getting a present that you didnt ask for. Who likes those...

Well see if he pays for that tattoo. But yeah, they never wanted me to get piercings either its just something you have to work on getting, like I am with the dreads. Eventually they just stopped caring about me getting my ears pierced.

if you're not getting the result you want, then re-evaluating and then changing your behaviour so as to increase the chance of getting the desired outcome is pretty simple logic.... you don't need to be a psychiatrist to be able to have a look at yourself and your behaviour, and the results it brings you from time to time - it's actually just part of being a person who is mature minded and self-aware
