Help, Pray for my mom...

I love you guys so much. I also know that most of you are not religious... Neither am I per-se But I need you guys to pray a small one thats from the heart for her right now.

We all can relate to her. She is us, but older. Hippie child to the max. Did everything that lifestyle involves and loves people like no other person I have seen. Truly what being a hippie was all about. She can't stop it though... She is sick and can not stop getting fucked up. She is dying from emphysema and can not stop smoking. She still drinks beer and takes hydros and all sorts as well... Why? She is easily smarter than 95% of people on this board, but can't do it to save her life

Doctors say she has 2 years max if she stopped smoking.

I guess that is part of life though, what was ment to be? If I prayed to god to save her that wouldn't help. Because this is his plan right? :'(

 

That REALLY sucks to hear man... how old is she?

This might sound dumb, but how hard have you tried to have her stop using? Rehab or imposed cold turkey? From the sounds of it it seems like you would have already tried everything possible, but is it REALLY impossible to have her stop using?

God can't or won't help you as it does not exist, but I wish you the best of luck in this tough situation.

Get her a "Pack" of those Electric cigarettes, maybe She can at least change over to those which don't involve inhaling smoke? And for Pot, get her to check out using a Vaporizer??

And dont let Doctors convince you of how long someone has to live, they're just guessing based on what they know when there really are a wide array of variables in play which can change at the whim of the patient.

Man, I'm so sorry to hear that. I know that you can try to have her switch to American Spirit ciggs that have no additives, it's just natural tobacco. But as for the pills and drinking, she may need medical help on that. Possible rehab sorry to say. Long term addictions are no joke, but there is no way forward until she realizes something needs to be fixed if she wants to enjoy a long life with her family. I have lots of vibes going your way, hit me up if you wanna chat.

I don't have much time to be on the computer and I am sorry for that. I some of these posts ment quite a bit to me and my mother. I let her read all of your responses so she knows that there are all sort of prayers going out to her. From all sort of gods, light sources, and people.

I really appriciate it. I thought there were going to be some ass holes on here that would make me mad, but totally supportive.

She is 55 years old. I can not stress to you how awesomely nice she is too. Doctors say when this gets bad she will become unlike herself and get mean :'( But I love you guys so much. Thanks <3

I have known several people like your mom The man after whom I named my son had emphysema, and wouldn't quit smoking. Prayers....

Not trying to be a jerk, here, but someone with emphysema does not need to be inhaling smoke, period.

 

Imagine how her life could be if she had stopped when she was 23

I am so sorry, i am having the same problem with my uncle and his smoking. I will send all the good vibes I can. and pray to teh spirits tonight for her.

 

Not trying to be a jerk, but smoking natural tobacco with no added chemicals *cogh cogh cyanide* is better than with the 1,000's of chemicals that are in ciggs. Someone who has smoked for most of their life can't quit cold turkey, specially when getting diagnosed with emphysema didn't make them quit. First is changing your brand, cause that's what you are addicted to, the chems in your brand. So if that is the first step, why not change to a non additive cigg and go from there to cut down on how many per day etc.

Cod, you always have a lot of support from us, it's the newbs or the ppl that don't know you that will send you shit. We all love you, and that means we love your family and hope the best long happy life for them as well.

I hope that maybe we have made an impact for her to make some changes and be here with you in real life for longer than expected, don't believe doctors. Just take it as a wake up call to make some changes in your life for the better.

Has she tried nicotine patches? I know those often work.
