wait wait wait cause this just blew my head off....

so when you think about something and you can see it?? i always thought when people also said ''pictures this" they ment just bring details in your head like a car/ it has wheels its made out of steel...\ thats what i get for picture of the car but i dont see any, not even my car that i definitely know how it looks.

    AND MOST IMPORTANT...

when people masturbate, you mean you can see pictures in your head of the person or the situation you are imaging?
personally Im just thinking "how hot would that be if i did that to this person..." and i just think about stuff i would do.

Man if i could imagine that vividly i think, would be wacking all day long! lol

I have a hard time thinking that you don't have any imagination when you have a great love for music. For that matter I don't think that people who do drugs can't have an imagination. I think you have one but it just works a different way.

I will give you an example. I am dyslexic. I can't visualize words in my head. No matter how hard I try I can't do it. My spelling sucks beyond everything that is holy. However, I have learned to do it a different way. I have to write it out or I often use spell check. This has not stopped me from writing.

For that matter everyone is a little dyslexic in different ways. Some people can't understand directions, some people can't do math, some people can't dance. It can be anything. I agree with what has already been said by a lot of people but it's all about taking the time. Practice makes perfect. You just have to find where your imagination takes flight and have fun with it.

For example, you mentioned the guitar. I am willing to bet you could come up with a rif or play something original from your head right. It's the same thing and not everyone can do that. Find your focus.

I have a lot of creativity in some things, but I can't help but think that all I make up is nothing more than a culmination of everything I've experienced before. Nothing I think up hasn't been used before, either in a slight way or a major one.

I don't know, I was just curious because it seemed like something that might be related to one's ability to form mental visuals.

Yeah. I don't really see much of anything in those. What do you see in them? Like, this one? http://farm1.static.flickr.com/1/580930_7f5f8c5f7e_m.jpg

I can see a face (two eyes, a nose. no mouth), or two old people sitting down and high fiving.

it's like when you say "that cloud looks like a dog"

Yeah. I can sorta see all of those things. I don't think that'd be visual-mental though. I think that's just association, which I wouldn't say requires visualization.

Do you have any friends with really vivid imaginations that you could possibly team up with? My cousin is a lot like this (like you, Wiseman), and her twin sister was super visual, and they did a bunch of exercises together that they found in this book... and she ended up being able to grasp the visualization process slightly after a month or so. But is it really all that bad?

    Which book? The Einstein Factor?

My girlfriend actually has a super vivid imagination, and I talked a little bit with her about doing image-streaming or something. I just think I'd feel ridiculous trying that.

It feels like it's that bad? I mean, when I think about it, it sure seems like I'm missing out on a lot. It's probably one of those things though that I've just really built up.

Ah, I think so. Have you read it? Probably. MmMmM... Well, why don't you tell your girliefriend to do something useful and help you out with image-streaming? ;]

I think you're just frustrated that you can't do it, if you're like most people. It's good that you're willing to overcome it, and it's understandable - since picturing things is endlessly helpful. Good luck, man!

Haha. Well, the problem is, we could spend half an hour where I sit around with my eyes closed shouting out all the things that I don't really see OR we could spend half an hour doing something enjoyable *cough* MAKINGOUT *cough*

Yeah. It's incredibly frustrating knowing that something that's completely normal for almost everyone feels out of reach to me.

I used to hink i was like that
But its really not possible to. How else do you understand what youu read or anything at all for that matter?
The world works by symbols, the symbols inside our heads. how can you understand what i mean when i say dog? How can you describe a dog to someone without knowing what it looks like? To know what it looks like you HAVE to have an image in your head. Have you ever heard of the world of ideas by plato?

Holy fucking shit. I have no imagination either. Exactly like it says on the site, I dream just fine, can't draw for shit (especially if it's someone's face), and I've always been unable to picture what I read in my head. I can keep track of all the characters, plots and everything just fine but I don't see anything. Everytime I try to meditate using audio (they always use scenarios as 'visual' stimuli) it's like I'm staring into the depths of my closed eyelids for an hour.

This is definitely me. I've never thought about this shit before but it's so true. Oh and I can never describe somebody's appearance to somebody else without stating the things that I've categorized into facts (or statements) in my head about the person... like what color their hair or eyes are or something that's extremely obvious. This is freaking me out bratha.

Yeah man. It's why I always get fed up with meditation and stuff. They always tell you to picture yourself under a waterfall or some crap like that. And yeah. Doesn't go so well.

It says in that Einstein Factor that everybody can visualize, but due to the way that some of us are raised, for some reason or another we develop something called 'the squelcher' that basically blocks us from seeing all of the images in our head. So everyone can visualize, they just need to learn where to look for the images.

Ok you are right, :), but I can't truly relate to it. I mean I can imagine it, but especially since I have hppd, it's impossible to see only black when I shut my eyes. Even when I have my eyes open, I still see patterns and fractals around me.
