I am really curious as to why you would want to hold your breath underwater for 5 minutes? Not that it's a bad thing, it's in fact kind of cool, but I am now pretty curious.

Oh, I,m sorry I thought you were talking about tobbaco. Well if you think weeds holding you back from attaining your goal then you should. Or you could get a vaporizer, those dont hurt your lungs.
Heh, i'm not the original OP, but i'm unsure of the weed smoking. I hear it burns about ten times hotter than cigarettes, and surely that sort of smoke would effect your lungs worse? I don't know, but am curious to know what difference in effect both weed smoking and tobacco could have. I say this because I still am smoking weed at this moment, and i', unsure whether or not it would be worth my while to stop.
Try holding your breath for as long as you can then take a 10 minute break and repeat a few times. You should be able to hold it longer after each break.
Last cigarette I had was on March 28th. I'm still using Nicorette to help when I have a craving, like when I drive or after a meal, but I really don't desire the act of smoking anymore and even the nicotine buzz from the gum is getting less appealing. I don't think I'll ever stop smoking pot though. Anyways, good luck.
