Kia Ora! I think it would be interesting to see how much money I spend in stores while barefoot. Since the first time I shopped barefoot this season, I have saved my receipts, and I have already spent over $100 dollars barefoot. And since many of you have been barefootin more than me this season, I'm sure some of you have doubled my amount. If you are so inclined, try to save your receipts from going barefoot so that we can see how much economic impact this small group of declared barefooters have. And including the people who barefoot and are not on this forum, I'd guess we easily spend 5k-10k in a few months. Not a huge percentage of the total money spent in the us, but it's still a nice chunk of change. Cheers!
Just added my recpts together and i have spent 145.36 barefoot. Im not even counting gas stations either so prolly around 300. Sorry 4 the poor gramr, but i dont have internet anymore so i post from my phone!
I haven't added my receipts, but I'm sure I've spent several hundred dollars in businesses while barefoot. If I add in flights I've flown while barefoot, it's a couple thousand or so. I had an interesting experience today. I'm on a business trip and went to a Rite Aid in Pennsylvania. I found everything I wanted and was approaching the counter when I heard some discussion in the aisle behind me - something about "no shoes" and "guy wearing shorts." About that time, an older, grumpy-looking, gray-haired woman came up front and opened the check-out next to me and waved me over. When I got up to the counter she said in an annoyed voice that I'd need to wear shoes the next time that it was health code violation. There was nothing friendly about her demeanor. I simply said, "That's really not the case," and slid my items toward her. I said, "Here, you can have these." She said something else, and started to ring up the items. I calmly reiterated, "Here, you can have these," pushed the items toward her, and left. I went to another Rite Aid, found the same items, and walked by several employees without comment. I checked out and left. Let's see, the one woman made up rules, was nasty, and lost a sale. I drove to another store of the same chain, the people were polite, didn't cite fictitious health codes, and they made a sale. I got what I was after, so I was happy. It sorta underscores my contention that the issues are more with individuals and their insecurities/misconceptions than actual store policies. I have a choice where to shop. I'm sure as hell not going to support a location that's rude to me.
Good handling of the situation ST. Don't you hate it when people whisper so loud you can hear them! why not just say it out loud!! Another thing, you said that some people have insecurities about barefooting, and I have heard that a few times on the forum. Can you elaborate on what these insecurities may be because I'm drawing a blank. Cheers!
I'm on 5 days without owning shoes! My confidence has greatly improved along with my spirits! Cheers!
