I am a little over 13 weeks pregnant. I had an ultrasound at my doctors apt yesterday. I happen to be looking at it just a min ago, and I think I might see girl parts. But the ultrasound isn't really clear. But for anyone who has had a ultrasound for a girl, it kind of looks like a hamburger. And that's what I see, but could it be an organ, etc. Not that I would not love the baby just the same, but I really wanted a boy. I have two girls already... So do you think it is to soon??
i think.. if i remember correctly it's 18weeks.. but with all three of my kids i just knew.. boy girl girl.. i was right everytime. or ask someone that has a bunch of kids.. they can probably tell just by looking at you... i know i can do that
I found out "for sure, according to the ultraound tech" what I was having between 18-20 weeks of pregnancy. I had figured it out earlier than that with my twin pregnancy because I had had ultrasounds at every visit, and I was able to distinguish one of my twins appeared to be a boy. With my girl twin, I was confused because I couldn't see anything and kept wondering where the penis was since I kept having dreams that I was having two boy twins and I had never seen a "girl" ultrasound picture. lol With both of my boys, I was able to see the parts right away. They looked like little turtles with their heads poking out. lol Don't give up hope yet! There might be "parts" tucked between legs, and hey, there's really no foolproof way to find out the sex before birth besides having an anmio, so you just never know! That's why I never took tags off of any of my kids' clothing until they were born so that way I could exchange them if needed, and made their bedroom neutral just in case! Hugs...
The child is GENETICALLY either male or female from conception. (With the exception of people who are transgendered......) In a fetus of this age, the clitoris is about the same size as a penis, so it is nearly impossible to tell sex without a sample of the Villi of the Placenta (NOT a safe test by anyone's standard!) Like hippymama said, sometimes you can tell by about 18 weeks from an ultrasound. I never knew for sure, with my kids. They always gave me a "we think it might be a girl (or boy)" but they could never tell for sure, and I never had any genetic tests done. We were always a little surprised by the sex when our babies were born!
some of my pregnancy books say that the earliest that you can tell is 16 weeks, but my dr is making me wait until i am about 20 weeks anyway. i think the further along you are, the better the chances that you'll be able to tell, as long as the baby will cooperate, and turn the right way. as everyone already said, in the beginning, external genitalia is pretty ambigious.
