Jeff Buckley- Hallelujah It's such a beautiful song, the lyrics, his voice and the music, it's perfect. On the other side I'd have to go with most lil wayne songs, cause they're so bad lol.
Jeff's Hallelejah would be on my list as well But, equally, Tim Buckley wrote a song called 'Song to the Siren'. Robert Plant covered it for his Dreamland album and it is simply pristine. I hugely recommend that song to anyone, I believe it was featured in the Lovely Bones soundtrack recently- and it's about bloody time it got some recognition. I saw Robert Plant sing it about 10 years ago, when I started my little musical journey- and it just reminds me of my dad. He was in awe of standing about 3 meters of so from his idol, and I had never really understood my love for music until that moment. It's stunning, wicked lyrics 'n all *wipes tear *
I think i'd only cry if i were really effed up. and it'd be this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXEMZSqJtfk"]YouTube- The Onion Song
Oh and another song that gets me is 'Pierrot The Clown', by Placebo. They are probably my favourite band, and an ex girlfriend I actually cared a lot for loved them too. She loved this song, and funnily it sort of fits her now, stupid druggy.
Thanking you, you obviously are pretty pucker with the tastes 'n all, I mean Jeff Buckley is incredible isn't he? One of a kind, RIP.
I used to love Brian Molko This song always gets me, but only this version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrK5u5W8afc"]YouTube- Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers
Idk man, the solo can get me a little teary. Just how perfect it is, and how you understand exactly what he means but have no idea what that specifically pertains to. Great solo. People get so into calling it out on its "Overplayedness" but it will always be a GREAT song IMO, no matter how much its drilled into our heads.
That's it right there and when the vocals come back with the drums after is when I do my air drums and bang my head. Even the 'and it makes me wonder' gives me these weird chills.
:smilielol5: "Wake Up Everybody" by Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes will make me have one of those happy cries, but only if I am PMSing. "Everybody Hurts" by REM is NOT good to listen to while drunk and sad. and... "So Far Away" by Carole King tore me up when I moved out of state and was driving across country. I thought of all my friends I was leaving behind and was crying as I entered Oklahoma.
I really like Unchained Melody too. It reminds me of my grandma and mamma who also really liked it. the new sort of soft rock folk version of "somewhere over the rainbow" makes me really sad because it was the background themesong during a particularly depressing 'cold case' and now it is just tooooooooo sad to listen too for me...:-( sniffle peace Delfynasa
"Forever Autumn" by The Moody Blues. So melancholy. It gets me all misty-eyed every time I decide to play it.
I also love the original version by Leonard Cohen. Peter Gabriel also does a great version. Peace Out, Rev J
The Young@Heart Chorus' Version of Fix You by Coldplay. The lyrics are especially moving when sung by an 80 year old man. I'll drop the video at a later date. Peace Out, Rev J
