The universe just exists because of how our brain perceives it, but yet our brain is just made up of matter of the universe. It is an immensely difficult concept to grasp. I was thinking this on mushrooms and it made complete sense. I just want to hear your opinions on this theory.

I think it's stupid. You're brain only makes your perception of the universe.

You egotistical little twat next time you're on mushrooms try thinking about how unimportant you really are next to these incomprehensible things you like to pretend you have control over.

Your mind is just a spec of cosmic dust which ultimately means nothing.

lol, or maybe I just felt like being a dick because I'm jelious I didn't think of it first.

    Was he joking? what?

Actually SamStoned I agree with you although that was a bit harsh. The universe exists regardless how the brain perceives it. There are people with severe brain damage who can't perceive shit yet the universe keeps on trucking without them. There are species of creatures on this planet that I am all but certain are even unaware of their existence, yet the universe still exists. Our brain and perception of the world is simply a way to maximize our potential to respawn and survive.

Think about it dude we're only on one planet in this ginoromous universe.

I felt like being senslessly harsh. That's what the internet is for. lol

But I really do think the internet exists because my brain is not big enough to hold all my thoughts. So the internet came to give me a place to store some old ones while I think of new ones.

Also, it frees up space to burn with drugs.

Yes I tried writing a philisophical thread about the projection of the subconscious and memories onto the internet but somehow it came off referring to something completely different.

haha sam stoned....he who believes himself wise...well you know the rest.

As for the op, you have stumbled upon a concept very recently coming under scientific investigation by physicists.

You tube or google: "The measurement problem"

It is highly counter-intuitive, but may have merit. Most surely it is above my understanding.

The internet is a demonstration of a common mind that always existed. Used to be, it was the people who did a lot of traveling to foreign places who more readily perceived the common ground of humanity. Now the internet brings those wide ranging conceptions of the world into a tangibly accessible community.

Haha okay.. thanks for the feedback, however a little harsh. It is just something that passed my mind while tripping, I don't really believe it. I do believe the universe is a fascinating thing and we don't really see all that it is. I also believe that planet earth and all life on it is negligible in this vast universe. I don't believe there is a purpose to the existence of the universe or life in it. We humans just create our own purpose. And for all we know, our universe could just be a bubble bunched up against an infinite amount of universes.

Just outside of coatesville. I had an apartment in west chester a while ago. I wouldn't be surprised if we somehow know eachother, or have some people in common.

Probably not though, cause I'm too cool for school and you're remedial.

Another joke, I'm an ass...but I mean well.

I was born and raised in Dub C. Something tells me I am referring to a different DUB C than the two of you.

I appreciate the love Sam. But Coatesville, eh? You're real close by then. Did you go to high school in the Dub?

Nah, I went to highschool in kennett... but I got kicked out and went to some alternative school in/near WC. Through there I met quite a few kids from there even before I moved there.

Imagine a little bug for eg that lives upon this planet and has some sorta reasonable intelligence to it. What would be hes precession of this planet that he and us human share? Maybe he would see the sky in some other color, he most definitely would experience the physical laws differently from us like walking on water cause of the surface tension and so on... Wouldn't this count as a universe with a universe?

Take inflation theory which says that some region of space may inflate at different rates which will produce a bubble of false vacuum that goes on to make a new universe that may have different physical constants from the universe which it was born of creating a universe with a universe. Now say that some sorta life form forms in this other universe it senses would be adopted to experience only its own universe. So if u would take it and placed him within our universe chances are this life form could not see, smell... where it is would our universe exist for him?

The same thing applys to the bug why because its senses comprehend this our universe differently from us humans , well what if an individual's human brain that has all the same senses as normal is wired in some weird way eg it can be as simple as teachings from early age to translate the signals from the senses in to some thing completely different from the rest of us wouldn't this count as a universe within a universe and all because of a mind set. Yeah yeah I know the physical universe would still exist without me but as far as I am concerned my universe the one that I know of starts and ends within my head.

Think about it how real would a character from ur dreams be if it would scar u mentally causing u to develop an anxiety for the rest of ur life. I would say just as real as a person that would cause that same thing in the physical world.

    I completely disagree.
I was talking to my step grandpa one time and he was trying to persuade me of religious ways. He said "did you know that if the sun was just one degree different in any direction, we'd all be dead. God has made the universe for us to live." But that's just stupid, cuz it's saying the sun is there because we're here. That is wrong, we are here because the sun. Same goes with this thing.

what came first, the chicken or the egg? the egg. dinosaur eggs. we're evolving beings and consciousness is just a peculiar thing.
