Recently I started experiencing a tightness in my upper neck and sometimes I'll get a dull shooting pain. Does anybody else get that? I talked to a co-worker and she says that it is caused by stress and also anxiety. I'm just kind of scared because I've never felt this way before. The only way I can describe it is when you go swimming and swallow a lot of water and when you take a deep breath you get the funny feeling in your throat. Has anybody ever experienced this?
I don't know. I know you can get tension headaches that come with or start with tension in your neck... Are you having trouble breathing? Any other symptoms? Have you hurt yourself? If you think it is anxiety related, you can try some stress-relief stuff like yoga or meditation. I do pilates and drink anti-stress tea. Or just sit in front of the computer and unwind with some funny stupid pictures like lolcats or demotivational posters. Either way, if it keeps up and really freaks you out, you should tell your doc. But try chilling first. Sometimes you aggravate a problem by focusing too much and freaking out about it. ESPECIALLY if it's stress-related (obviously ).
I'm not having any trouble breathing but sometimes my throat feels tight. I have to find time for yoga/meditation because I really enjoy it but it's hard to find a calm moment to do it. I just never really heard of it. I'll see how it goes but I figured I'd just post something to see if anybody else has the same problem.
Yes i am exteremly tense due to stress and anxiety mostly on the right side of my body espesially in my neck. When i take a breath it feels like im gasping for air and the deeper i go the more i can feel the tension of my whole body holding back a full breath, i know exactly what you are going through and there is no way around it other than the hard way. You mus seach within yourself using whatever techniques you can (yoga, meditation, smoking alone) basically whatever works for you. Yoga wil help with the tension but in order to be free of the tension you must treat the problem that is causing your anxiety this i can not help you with as it is all within the depths of your consciousness
Anxiety can present itself in a lot of different physical forms, or can exacerbate problems that are already there. When I am anxious I get a lot of physical symptoms and ache a lot too. I once went to my Doctor and he just suggested meditation and yoga.
my very similar neck pains started on mother's day last year and lasted a couple months . first one side then the other and back again . i note others are having such problems all around town . for what reason is this general distress ? i'm beginning to suspect it is environmentally sourced , widely so . and yes , odd throat troubles this spring . be tough . kick it in the ass . spirit can whip it .
I get sore muscles on the left side of my chest often. Lots of aches mostly on the left side of my body. I've had tests and what not so I know it's nothing else. Just anxiety. It really sucks sometimes. Sore back as well, and sometimes I get the shakes pretty bad. I've always had a mild amount of shakes.
