I had rescued my pitbull from the back of a pickup truck. The man gave it to me for 10 dollars all he was trying to do was pawn her for gas money. She was one of the best dogs I had ever owned, She did not bite anyone or anything she was just happy. Though, One day she got loose and a man purposely hit her at around 80 miles an hour with a trailer on the back. I had to witness this and the man was later found... The man hit her for being a pitbull and it pissed me off. Pitbulls are good animals as long as they are trained right. People should not hate these animals for what people do to them. Beautiful pup freedompreacher.Glad to see someone actually READ the original thread instead of jumping into an argument of good or bad dogs.her white markings look alot like my girl lulu, cept she's mostly black instead of brown.lulu will be 2 this year,& in that time she's even convinced people that were wary of pits to the point of"I would'nt mind havin one of them dogs".To say they're all bad is comparable to sayin all blacks & hispanics are in gangs & all whites are in the KKK.simply not true
Thank you Longhair, And she was blue Pitbull she was a dark blue tint in the light very beautiful dog. Also, I have to totally agree with you they are one of the best breeds. They are loyal and if you are their friend you are their friend forever a friend of mine has her brother and that still comes up to me with that puppy dog like face with excitement every time he sees me waiting for me to pet him and play with him. My other dog is a Beagle and at the time I also had a Rottweiler and a German Shepherd and they were all excellent with their behavior. It all depends on how good the owner is with teaching their dog. If you beat your dog and starve it of course it is going to bite and attempt to kill things. A Pitbull just like any dog is good with the right owner though Pitbulls, Dobermans, and Beagles are my favorite breed because of how "untrainable" ignorant people think they are. Hell, My friend has had this doberman named Oz since he was three years old and that dog has never even attempted to bite a person. Also my beagle is the like perfect dog in every aspect she just has a mind of her own just like any living thing my Pitbull was the same way I miss that damn dog.
This is Loki! She's lovable with people, but she gets way too excited around other dogs and small critters. She's a very focused, intense dog. I rescued her from a dog pound on what was probably her last day to live. She is very interested in my cat and will likely kill my cat if she was allowed to - but she stays in a separate area of the apartment. It's difficult to keep up the arrangement, but I do. She is allowed to romp with my other dog, but is kept crated when I can not be there to supervise their playing. Despite having her on a regular feeding and walking schedule, she still is not housebroken. She rips apart blankets and chews on things she shouldn't because she gets bored when I have to go away for work. She's a dog. This stuff happens. I wish I didn't have to work an 8 hour shift to afford to live, and that I could spend all day out hiking or working with her to help her improve. I truly believe that if I could give Loki a job to do everyday (agility/cart pulling/etc) she'd be a lot happier. But I don't have the time right now, so we make do with what we have. Pit bulls are 100% dog - not for the mellow, not for the pushover, they need strong minded owners to protect and improve their public image or nothing will ever change.
Loki's mom, it's seriously NOT about quantity of exercise (beyond a certain minimum amount) for the VAST majority of dogs. What's important is doing SOMETHING. Get a long line (30-50' leash) and make yourself a flirt pole. Jog with your dog- this time of year, it's too hot to do this during the day anyway, so getting up an hour early and getting in a 35-40 minute run before work and then doing a slower-paced 45 minute walk in the evening (bike, if you can't run) will help. Play fetch (again, on a long-line if you don't have a fenced yard.) Get involved in an obedience or pre-agility class (your dog is probably not ready for agility if she can't ignore other dogs- but seriously, that's an hour plus driving to and from class once a week, and maybe 15 minutes twice a day practicing the other days.) You can do a lot to wear out your dog with trick training and other stuff that makes her THINK, too. Part of owning this breed is MAKING time to meet their energy needs. They're a physically intense dog (although sadly a lot of badly bred ones have all the 'bulldog' and none of the 'bull and terrier' temperament and soundness. 'American bullies' and that crap, ugh). If you can't meet the dog's needs, you need to change your life in a way that you can.
Pit bulls are awesome. I used to work in kennels and I'm way more afraid of chihuahuas and Pomeranians then I am pits
I have 7month old brindle/white chest pitt. She is pure pure, no mix in her at all. I love her so much I cant see myself getting any other breed now. Very intelligent, physically strong and very fast. No other dog is so loyal which is the best quality. Its really sad the rep they get tho. Just like dobermans and rottweilers.. its sad. Im trying to get some pictures up. Havin trouble. ITS NOT THE BREED ITS THE OWNER!!!
Best video about the breed. This video says a lot for any dog. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIASWv9GYC8"]YouTube - Pitbull Love
That is sooooo true. I have a chocolate pit named Snickers (I had the munchies when I got her) and she is the best dog I have ever had. She cuddles with me in bed and follows me everywhere. Since I got her a year and a half ago she has helped me in so many ways, especially with my emotional problems. She's my best friend and I will never have any other breed, I don't care what anyone thinks she is my little girl. I'm so glad to see that there are others who feel the same. Much luv:2thumbsup:
