I was listening to one of his many creations as I sat in my comfortable chair channel surfing. I was hoping to catch Miles Davis but I caught a peace of beauty instead, his name was John Coltrane. Now don't get me wrong, Miles will always be my favorite but there is something about John that is breath-taking. His music is both beautiful and comforting. You can almost hear your blood pressure at the normal range. He was a young man when he died and I could almost swear that I could hear that in his music. I listen to most musicians and I get a feel of their music but with his music I get a feel of him. I made a copy of his biography if you want to read it. Please feel free to share your thoughts. (You should really go and download a song of his.) http://www-music.duke.edu/jazz_archive/artists/coltrane.john/26/biography.html

The best thing is he's so good that you can't really say it's old.

lots of classic era Jazz is timeless in my opinion. I like Coltrane becasue he seems both mellow and aggressive in his playing.

I love the "Blue Trane" cd... I got hip to him off of hearing Miles' Kind of blue cd.

I also got into Cannonball Adderly off of that album (Kind of Blue).
