Arnold for President?

Should the US Constitution be amended to allow a foreign born citizen to be President?

And are there any countries where a foreign born citizen is President/Prime Minister or Head of State?

 

personally, yes, i think the constitution should be amended to allow those not born in the country to run for president, but it has nothing to do with the current governor of California, it has to do that people don't get to choose where, when, or any of the other circumstances surrounding their birth, so i don't think that should be used against them or prohibit them from things like this...

 

No, the Constitution should not be amended. Next they'll want to amend something else, then something else.... it will just keep increasing and increasing, and with more and more frequency.

I'm with you Stan, of course it's ridiculous- I was astounded to learn that there is a movement in California that has actually made such a proposal. What are these people thinking? I don't think they were joking, sounded quite serious.

I was wondering if there was a precedence anywhere in the world for something like this happening?

 

I don't think we should take amending the constitution lightly.


It's not as if there's a shortage of native-born, wealthy, conservative white men and now we need to import them.

As far as I know, there has only been one actor who became president, so 'always' is pushing it. During the Iran-Contra scandal hearings Ronald Reagan said 'I don't know' and 'I can't recall' so many times that it became true. He developed Alzheimer's.

This situation is not even funny. I try to have a sense of humor about stupid things like this, but this is just too scary.

So, if AAAHnold wins, and I flee to Canada, do you mind if I try to become prime minister? I don't have any acting experience, but I have always fantasized about being a dictator.... (No, I haven't, so chill. Aaahnold says that he has, though.)

 

No. They need to leave the constitution alone. I dont know who these "Californians" are that are behind this "movement" because I live here and most people I've talked to cant stand Ahnuld. Then again, Cali is a big place and L.A. Im sure feels differently about this than other parts of the state.

I was in CA when Arnold got into office and every newspaper had a front page story about the "Governator". Most were excited when he slashed the car tax...few were upset when he was trying to make illegals stop living on USA's welfare.

 

In truth,I find californias "govenator" lacks intelligence,depth,and a clear understanding of the everyday working persons problems.AND,I don't see where he really wants too either.Peace

I live in California. I don't know anyone that would want him to be president. But then, the part of Cali that I live in voted overwhelmingly against the governator and against Dubya.

Even though this is a rediculous idea, we should consider an actual possibility- and fight it.

 

The newspapers here do not reflect what most residents think. At least the larger ones....

As I recall there was a president in Peru who was of Japanese extraction called Alberto Fujimori; I think for some reason it went horribly wrong and he left under a cloud of suspicion...
