Fuck sake, right. Today was the day me, my dad and the others involved finally started buying the drivers for the rig we are building.

I had to put together a cost list for drivers and amps and get that to my dad for tonight so he could have a build cost put together for tomorrow.

All Ive done though is get deeper and deeper into trying to find good bargains and the right drivers that can be shipped to Ireland for the job. All I can find is either great deals that dont ship to Ireland or shite deals that do.
Ive got about half the list made out...so far its:

-8x 18" bass drivers running at about 800watts each
-4x 15" midrange drivers running at 600watts each

thats already eaten up €2000 and with the added expense of amps (this is the one thing I have no idea about), midtops and wiring its going to push our budget a good deal Id say.

I can wire them fine and get them all sounding ok if I can find a good set of amplifiers but I havnt a clue where to start there so might have to get someone else involved. So far our crew is going to comprise of 5 people and we hope to be touring by the start of summer.

None of ye probably have a clue what Im on about but maybe someone has a bit of insight...otherwise Im just going to continue to use this thread to rant about all the things that go wrong over the next few weeks :p

how did you come up for this set up? and why do you need it for exactly?
a rock concert for your band?

    speaker wise;
why you need so much bass?it will be distorting and covering everything, plus rock music is uped more in the middle frequencies but you need to cover everything almost equally for good sound.

    give us a better description.
    like how many instruments,voices etc.
about the size of the venues you are going to play, and a maximum money you are willing to pay.
also it is stupid in my opinion when you are just starting to buy brand new stuff,
you can find some pro used equipment in very good prices and condition.

What no mixing board? You can't adjust the sound quality of a room without a quality mixer. You can't just hook a bunch of speakers together and run them full out, you need to adjust the sound quality of each speaker based on the size and shape of the room. Not to mention sound quality. Hell, wood, stone, brick, sheetrock all have different sound qualities that need to be adjusted. You run your speaker full out all the time you are going to blow them out.

Its not for a band at all man ;)

Going to be an acid techno/DnB/hardtek system, mainly for outdoor use and the odd warehouse.

Bass is the driving force behind any good rave/teknival system so long as its matched by good build quality (sorted), a good mix of amps (being sorted) and some good mids.
I just need to find a good set of midtops and tweeters and Ill be sorted, also some good cables.

Yeah Im well aware of that Dave but thats sorted, just getting the right drivers for our system is the main problem now. Im just impatient though, I want to start on the actual build instead of trawling through sites getting the right deals. Already got some people to rent it though so we have a deadline now. Should be running the first tests by the end of April if all goes well.

    :cheers2:
Thanks man, got the bass drivers sorted, ordered eight PD.186s straight off a guy who gets them factory price so saved about €50 on each one. Cost me €1300 altogether. Bought two Proline 3000 amps to power the Gsubs and two Matrix XP2000s for the mid tops. Might go for the Eminence Kappa 12" for mids and something from Beyma for the high frequency drives.

This is what the design plan is looking like at the moment, funds have been extended and work should begin by next week. A few of the drivers already on the way and the amps should be here well before build end.

Oh and for the record Joef, that was a club, not a rave ;)
Andy Cs old stuff is banging though, surprised hes out yer side of the pond :cheers2:
