Most of my hammers were re-handled finds at flea markets and garage sales. No particular favorite but I do know I dont like those crappy 20 LB sledge hammers they sell at ACE hardware. I mean the Head is fine and all, but 3 or four good swigs with it and I'm ready for the fiberglass replacement handle kit. Oh yea, I miss my old Spike Maul,,,
none of my hammers have brand names displayed on them... and i didn't buy any of them myself, so i have no idea.
I prefer the Armand brand. (Armand Hammer) Heh. But seriously. I usually use something cheap that you'd find at Harbor Freight. Then again, I'm not a craftsman or someone that uses it often. The ones with the wood handles that I've had usually come loose. .
i have a free hammer that i stole from the army. its in my car, i haven't used it yet. i have faith that its a good hammer, though.
I have actually tied a rock to a stick for a hammer in a pinch, but they dont last long and safety goggles are a must. I think I was busting up a rotten log for fire starter material in the Ozarks. And make sure the rock is "a real rock' and not just a lump of sandstone. Look for flint or granite. Gotta get me one of those flask hammers,,,
I have no idea what the brand is on my favorite hammer. I'll be sure to check tomorrow while I'm working. I do have a favorite nail puller - Death Stick Exhumer. It has a saw wrench and a bottle opener.
Dead On? That's a K-Mart brand. Nah, those things are really good. I have some blue cat's paw from work that has like a round head... the thing sucks.
I would go look and tell you, but I can never find tools when I need them. I usually have to improvise.
