honestly, i couldnt sleep the other night, and was pagin through this thread, and decided i really cant stand the op, so then i googled him, and the first thing that pops up is him talking about drinking pee, then i did some more searching and realized that everybody in every thing he posts in thinks he is a doucher, not just me. and most of the spiritual related threads he is in, people generally get hostile to him and question his motives.

anyway, i had a point to this post, not just to rant about how sketched out the OP makes me feel.....

my point is (directed to the op) i dont think people diss you for your dreads, i think they just kind of diss you. maybe due to your attitude to them, or your attitude to life in general. take a tip from your spirituality and free your mind from the slavery of others.

if you dont care, then what they tell you wont hurt your feelings. thats all you really have to know when it comes to taking shit about your hair, when you have a nest on your head, eventually somebody is not going to like it..... deal with it or cut

 

Aren't other people the ones that technically have alternative looks because if you don't do anything at all you'll get dreads?

 

I live in a total hippie land so I actually haven't had anyone respond negatively to my hair. Around here you get weird looks if you DON'T have dreads!

this kid at the rehab i went to always gave me shit about my dreads and always asked why i had them, so i asked him why he had a shaved head. his answer? "cuz, you see more ppl with shaved heads then dreads" i laughed at his statement and proved my point. what a d bag. I WANNA BE JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE!

about the pee thing, i was being funny. (and half wanted to hear you defend it, though not for comedic purposes on that i just wanted a quick list of reasoning because whilei understand it, i do not understand the ability to ACTUALLY drink it) but i understand why you do it. i understand the benifits and all the positives, i just wouldn't ever do it. i get everything i need through a fairly good diet, exorcise and positive people. as far as pee goes, you can put a flower in a pile of crap, but when it comes time to eat it, its still a pile of crap.

Regarding the original question: I've never had negative comments on my hair.

Regarding the story: Who cares if the story is real, it's a good illustration of attachment. The Buddhist would be doing the sadhu a favour.

Sidenote: Spell check doesn't understand sadhu - it suggests sadist. That made me chuckle.
