At the center of all motion is only the endless possibility of motion. It once was that God was all that was good, and grace, and love. Everything subtle, and simple, and joy. But at the center of it all was the endless possibility. The endless curiosity. And to set that in motion, through the interplay of the forces of nature, took a little more than the sublime contemplation of the perfect mind. God had to absorb some of the Awesomeness of the Devil, and the power of his Nature, in order to make virtue more tempting to the common man. The one, unobstructed light was forced through sheer Will to fragment as if reflected through a prism. This prism was the highest, most perfect form of the Intellect. From there, the light took many forms. Forms visible to the eye, emanations of light reflected. And also forms – in the absence of reflection - only visible to the eye when shown in contrast to the reflected forms. To see a shadow, one must first have light. But even in the shadows, there is light. For black is actually the color into which all light is absorbed. So really, the forms we see – interpretations of reflected light by our mind’s eye – are only seen in contrast to that which is absent of color, absent of visible light. We look out into space, and we see black, Emptiness. And indeed, the Clear Light of the void is empty. It is only called light by our modern minds. For the Light is everywhere, in every atom, in every speck of dust. And it is us who create the illusion of darkness, which is so useful as a metaphor, and so beautiful as a background for the stars. And so, as the scientists tell us - it is the constant interplay between dark and light energy, which causes the universe, and therefore ourselves, to expand forever.
I also believe that the light dwells in the darkest spaces, but unscientifically i believe that light is god =)
So then, God is in the Devil. But the Devil is present in any experience of the divine, there is no light without darkness. God needs the power of the Devil (animal nature) to find expression in anything we will turn our attention to - this is the story of creation. we humans, we would not care about goodness or virtue if it were not for its triumph over evil. they are two sides of the same coin. The first mistake of the religions was to cast the devil out of paradise, to reject the magick of our nature, and thereby creating the endless dualism in history and human thought. for millenia, what one believes, wholeheartedly, to be the ultimate Good has perceived by others as the ultimate Evil, and vice versa. if we paint on a black piece of paper, we have created reflection. we have actually taken that area absent of light and caused it to reflect a specific frequency, one color. interesting tthen that we have designated black as "color" and white as "blank". when we color on a white piece of paper, we have actually REDUCED its ability to reflect, from all the the colors of the spectrum, to one. so when we paint on a black background, we are bringing the color out of the darkness. when painting on a white canvass, we are actually putting color back into it, making it absorb every color except what we paint.
first off i interpret the bible different from most. I believe the devil or the 'beast' is our animilistic beast like nature inside of all humans not an actual being, but i may be wrong. and to your post i believe that when we were first created there was no darkness inside of us but like the bible says paradise lost and we are the ones who created the darkness. God does not need evil or darkness to prove anything, only we need it.
yes, indeed i do. i reject the notion that any word need be hidden because of its actual power or relation to the divine. only we, humans, give words meaning and power. God does not know himself as God or G-d or Elohim or any verbal symbolic configuration. Unless, of course, thats what you believe. i capitalize it to accentuate the power of what the monotheists call the Devil, which is really just a personifaction of the Destructive aspect of Nature, God being the Creative aspect. I also do it to shock people who are not used to hearing the word "Devil" spoken with reverence and respect. Perhaps the clever and unusual use of words can stimulate the mind and show beyond the words themselves, revealing the hidden forces in ones own mind. These forces, our personal "nature", is unique unto itself and complete with its own will to live and die, create and destroy. I believe The One, beyond rational understanding, is complete with both aspects, Birth and Death in continual flux.
i'm using God and the Devil, Light and Darkness as poetic metaphors to describe two opposing states of consciousness, which are not really opposing. They are interdependent. i'm also using them literally in the context of scientific theory and religious tradition, to show the parallels. If you believe in God or a Creative Principle of some sort, that is wonderful. I do too. But i believe the absolute - both creative and destructive, timeless, is unspoken. but i agree, only we need evil and darkness to prove our virtue. but we also need god in the same way. and, think that in many ways, organized religion has historically used these focal point to create a status game within the church, people judging their own virtue in contrast to others' faults.
BUT, if you're not grasping the abstract, then God may and might not help you fool. Better get up and walk away.
Actually there is an autonomous traffic control system that engages everyone equally, called reality. Whether or not that is more or less God is no more relevant than reality. That which is not real does not exist. We are safe, there is no reason to fear.
