I just used that song as an example. I could have chosen any song, it wouldn't have made a difference, I typed "evanescene" in the search bar at youtube and literally selected the first video that came up. To enjoy a band and their music is one thing, and there is nothing wrong with it, but to say that extremely basic pop music is complicated writing is just doing yourself a disservice. I encourage you to branch out.
So you have listened to the songs I mentioned, or not? Don't tell me to branch out when you know of only one artist that I listen to. Also, that (my immortal) was a very bad example. Seriously, listen to Your Star, to the piano solo in the middle and then argue with me... Extremely basic pop music is more along the lines of Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. Amy Lee is an actual musician. A musician who never even needed an agent to get discovered, I might add. She deserves a little more credit than that. She is a professionaly trained pianist and singer. She writes all of her own music. You can argue that it is poppy bullshit all you want, but I will never buy it. Of course I am biased because I love them. But that still doesn't change the fact that Amy Lee is a very talented singer and musician. Her lyrics are written beautifully. She has a very imaginitive vision. She branches out and ventures into folk music (I am not talking about Evanescence, just Amy Lee on her own) and sings old appalachian folk songs at small festivals. She also works on scoring films.

Well, for instance that the vocalist of this band is involved in movie scores is quite irrelevant when you're defending the sound of Evanescence. That they're technical evolved is really great but it doesn't matter shit to people who does not like their sound anyway. I hope you can just enjoy this band's music without feeling the urge to convert other people to them, 'cause their sound is clearly not for everyone. It's that simple. No, their music is far from simple, we understand. It does not matter.
