Dietmar Mücke barefoot on Rome Marathon

    Siraj Geda took off his shoes for the last 500 m of the Rome Marathon, but my friend Dietmar Mücke ran the whole distance on bare feet! He is well-known for running marathon in the disguise of the gremlin "Pumuckl" form a popular German childrens book.

    You can see a lot of Dietmar's barefoot marathon pics in several picture series at the end of this German article.

    Dietmar is a genial guy who usually runs ultra-marathon. He takes part in marathon events just for pleasure of his own as well as of the spectators.

    By the way, the following report I made on a running event organized by Dietmar shows that many youngsters ran barefoot as well:

    I thought that Dietmar would deserve a separate thread because he runs complete marathons and even ultra-marathons barefoot and contributes a lot to making barefoot running popular in European countries.
