If you refuse to acknowledge or even look at something, then you will never be able to overcome it. You can not prevail against forces you don't understand. And you can't understand it when you avert your gaze from anything unsettling. Political Correctness is blinding.
Yes. I am currently reading DC's Blackest Night, and one of the issues I read today relates perfectly. The head of the Red Lanterns' (like Green Lantern but their power is rage, not willpower) said "The most powerful hate is not born out of ignorance or prejudice or a perceived threat. Those three are fear in disguise. The fury that fuels my corps ignites from personal pain. Those who were ravaged by greed, lust and control wield the crimson light [of hate]" In every case, those who hate deserve pity, for their state - even though they may not always be eligible for personal forgiveness of their actions. If we hate, we only contribute to the hate of the world. I have been hated on by many a liberal I didn't agree with here (and a handful of conservatives), been called names, told I am immoral (when if I was, why would I be arguing social/moral issues, duh). This leaves me feeling alienated. This has left me with a strong distaste for liberals, in general. In the past (as well as in rare weak moments now), this has led to feel hatred towards those that were persecuting me - in the past, I believed that liberals were inherently hateful people - disguising their hate as love, to make it acceptable. I know now that this may be the case for some, even most, but by far is not the heart of the political identity - but it's infection. I know I should pity these people. I know I should respond kindly (but firmly) towards them, show them the universal bond we all have - show them the importance of recognizing this, of loving one another- but I am human, and I fail sometimes. But I try, oh man, do I try. I beg of you to do the same. Not for me, not for you, but for you, me, and everyone else.
“Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated.” ~George Bernard Shaw (Irish literary Critic, Playwright and Essayist. 1925 Nobel Prize for Literature, 1856-1950) Hate is easy- it takes courage to love
Heck yeah. Accept, accept, accept. Absorb all the hatred and become these things. It won't change your fundamental nature, and that is something that should never be denied, regardless of what is true.
that's the whole point- I want my fundamental nature changed for the better, without that, there's no growth but I know what you mean about a person pretending to be something that he's not
It's always hard for me to understand why 'beautiful' people feel the need to 'hate' others... I've see people, induvisuals, souls, who on the surface appear so 'surene' (think I misspelled that), but beneath the surface harbor resentment and dislike towards certain others... Beautiful people tend to draw positive comments, and gestures towards themselves... But yet can at times turn around and harbour the most ugliest of view points. That is a mystery to me...for you would think beauty would put out beauty.... I do know this, anger, rage and resentment is usally our bodies reaction to 'fear'...and we usually fear that which we percieve to be a threat. So my question is, what do beautiful people fear?
This is a bold thread...cause many of us only accept that which is already in our 'realm' of acceptance or understanding... This thread is bold...and I like that...
I've certainly known quite a few Rainbows who tend toward closed minded, dreaddier-than-thou veganazi dogmatism. Ironic, isn't it?
I find that in general, self-identified hippies seem to be a very polarized group. There's the ones that genuinely try to be open minded and peaceful - they seem to be a very loving, accepting, and conscious type of people. Then there are the ones that talk like they are goddamn Gandhi, but are among the most hateful and closed-minded you can encounter in our society. It's a shame. It seems to happen in most 'moral' groups but it's really widespread in hippiedom. I've also noticed that it seems to happen more in groups that are seen as being 'virtuous' by the common people. "If you can't beat 'em, pretend to join 'em" =P
We are ALL Human Beings ( except for a few I suspect are Aliens ) The thing about humans are: we are not all on the same level of consciousness. We are all on our individual paths to learn and grow. No two are the same. We all have our own thoughts and draw our own conclusions from what we learn and growing in self from gaining the knowledge we need to get to the otherside. You call Hater, some call you Judgementle. Where is your head when you speak of haters, why utter the name and call up the demon. BC one does not agree with another does not make the either of you right or wrong. It depends on the prespective and what you are learning/teaching. The thing is, to be still and listen. Find a corrolation of understanding that we are each on our own road of enlightenment. It's like a recipe, you must gather all the ingriedenece before you start cooking or become a cook. Who are you again. Tell me about why you have come. What is your place, what do you believe is the right/wrong way for every human being to follow. Would you have us be sheep. What are your contributions. I'm just saying: We ALL have our different concepts, we all recive and transmit. It is about understanding and connection. If you have a ego problem it can sometimes interfere with reception and distort the message/messenger. One must ask themselves, am I reacting with ego or truth. Blessings on your journeys sh
