if you must, I will stand by and allow it but only this once. My threads cant result in somebody winding up in the putz list.
I think it happens when they realize they make less money on an minimum wage, than welfare. I see it rarely, but it happens. Right now I would make more on welfare than I do, on my low paying horse job. But I would rather struggle and get on my own feet, than try to be on someone else's dole. I dont judge others on what they do, bc if you really need welfare, you need it.
so you agree with me, then. That's all I'm trying to say. oh but good for you, though. Some folks feel likes it owed them. Like they did something ANYTHING to deserve it.
thanks, yeah I would rather earn my way. and I have 2 kids, so it is hard, but it is worth it, knowing I am supporting them with my own money. It was just the way I was raised.
See the issue I have here is that at the same time that you have someone like psychedelicg1rl working and making less then minimum wage, you also have people who are sweeping floors in a factory, making 4 times minumum wage because they are part of a union. So when someone takes money from the union person making that much money doing fuck all, I don't feel bad about it going to someone who needs it to survive. Now, when you are talking about people who choose not to work at all and do nothing but sit back and collect a check, then I will agree it is a problem. Taking a hand up is fine, a hand out isn't. edited to add... although I would rather see 10k a year go to someone on welfare then 50k a year go to keep them in jail....
it SOUNDS good, but penalizing someone for catching a break and getting a great job to this degree isn't a hand up to anyone, it's a knock down to many.
It is when people working much harder then they do are starving to death just because they don't work at a unionized place.... Everyone can not join a union after all.
I don't like unions, either. haha. I agree with you, Tom. A helping hand here and there is very understandable. I've been helped out by friends and family on multiple occasions but never once did I feel it was owed to me.
Oh I agree that there are better people then the middle class to take away from, namely those that are rich. But when it comes down to it, I will choose the least expensive and safest option, which is people being on welfare. Having someone living next door to me with 4 starving kids sounds a lot more dangerous and detrimental to me then having that same family on welfare.
I don't mind people using welfare. It's when they're on welfare and buying HD tvs that I wonder 'WTF?" and yes it happens.
i have a cousin who lives like this in germany. she's been doing it since she turned 18, never had a job.... my family in germany hates her for it. apparently its an epidemic of sorts over there.
There are definitly people who abuse the system, no way around that. I can point to people around here who have vehicles and tractors and 4-wheelers and so on, while living on welfare, while we sit and struggle with a 21 year old truck that is falling apart. But I also don't just look at people on welfare for that. Look at the people who work half the year and then collect employment insurace for the other half while they go hunting and fishing and such. Yes, at least they are paying in something, but not nearly what they take back out, and yet they look down on people on welfare for it, regardless of the reason that person is on welfare. As for the idea that some get a unionized job and deserve what they make. The job they work at, wouldn't exist if there weren't a whole bunch of people working minimum wage spending thier money on the products that are made by those same unionized people. Same goes for the rich... they are rich because they have been making profit off of those same people on minimum wage and welfare that they bitch about taking 'their' money.
