Spring has sprung, our clocks have "sprung ahead" an hour and the smell of reefer will once again permeate the surrounding air of Ann Arbor, at it's 39TH ANNUAL "HASH BASH" and 9TH "MONROE STREET FAIR"!!! But then again, the smell of reefer probably permeates the Ann Arbor, Michigan air every day, especially after the passage of MICHIGAN STATE LAWS for the LEGAL, MEDICAL use of "MARY JANE", thanks in a large part, due to the valiant efforts of the ANNUAL ANN ARBOR "HASH BASH" and the MICHIGAN chapter of NORML - National Organization for the Reformation of Marijuana Laws - (www.minorml.org). Nice work guys and gals!!! Our special thanks to you all!!! We greatly appreciate your years of dedicated efforts!!!

"Hash Bash is an annual event held in Ann Arbor Michigan on the first Saturday of April. The event is a collection of speeches, live music, street vending centering around the goal of reforming federal, state and local marijuana laws. The first Hash Bash was held in 1971. Ann Arbor has very lenient laws regarding the possession of marijuana - a mere $25 fine first $50 second $75 third offense and a simple infraction rather than a misdemeanor or felony. The campus of the University of Michigan sits upon state property, and so anyone caught with marijuana on any campus location is subject to the more strict state marijuana laws."

The following is the schedule for the 9th annual Monroe Street Fair.
Vending and Music from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM.

We are encouraging people to bring their drums this year as we will be hosting drum circles between the bands. Everyone is welcome to join the fun.

2007: David Arquette makes appearance at Monroe Street Fair. Last, year, David Arquette made an appearance to promote his movie, The Tripper. He talked about this movie, signed autographs, and mingled with the crowd. It just shows, you may never know who will stop by and visit us!"

AS A SIDENOTE: I (Cosmicdust) did attend the ANN ARBOR HASH BASH in 2007, and saw DAVID ARQUETTE there (with his big, special "The Tripper" MOVIE TOUR BUS). He did mingle in the crowd, and I walked past him many times. I forgot to get his autograph, though. He was wearing a dark-colored suit, with green marijuana leaves on them and a marijuana "LEI" NECKLACE around his neck!!!

For those of you who don't know who DAVID ARQUETTE is, he is the youngest of his family, with his two famous ACTRESS sisters being: PATRICIA ARQUETTE ("MEDIUM" TV SERIES) and ROSSANA ARQUETTE ("DEPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN" - 1985 - starring as "Roberta Glass", alongside MADONNA). As an actor, DAVID ARQUETTE had a NOTABLE ROLE, as Dwight "Dewey" Riley in the SCREAM (MOVIE) TRILOGY (1996-2000), plus his involvement in his movie: "THE TRIPPER".

If you look in the extreme right bottom of this specific photo, you'll see a guy wearing a yellowish. tie-dye hat and a WOODSTOCK (dove on guitar emblem) blue jean jacket over a blue fleece "hoodie" (sitting on the lawn, by a girl wearing a bright, lime-colored "hoodie" sweater). This guy is me - COSMICDUST. At the ANN ARBOR HASH BASH, you could be filmed!!!

Glowb is a local band from FLINT (the birthplace of JOHN SINCLAIR, for whom the ANN ARBOR HASH BASH was started, when he got busted for an illegal marijuana possession (only a joint, or two), back in 1971, and JOHN LENNON dedicated a song to him). When JOHN SINCLAIR makes his guest appearance at the ANN ARBOR HASH BASH, he recites his "BEATNIK WARRIOR" 60's POETRY, while his favorite FLINT, MI band is playing, which is GLOWB. GLOWB usually plays at EVERY ANN ARBOR HASH BASH.

On GLOWB's WEBSITE, if you click your mouse on the "Photos" link, you'll see another picture of old COSMICDUST (grooving on the sounds of GLOWB and the POETRY of JOHN SINCLAIR, with some of his references to LSD, of course). In this specific photo, I'm located at the extreme top (just left of center), with my head behind the girders, while my head is turned 90 degrees to the my right (in that photo). I'm still wearing a yellowish, tie-dye cap, WOODSTOCK jeans jacket and a blue fleece "hoodie". JOHN SINCLAIR (on the stage in a black leather jacket) is sort of looking directly at me!!!

Last year in the "HIPFORUMS" I posted information on the ANN ARBOR HASH BASH and MONROE STREET FAIR, and ADAM BROOK (THE ORGANIZER AND EMCEE of the ANN ARBOR HASH BASH) responded to my "HIPFORMS" THREAD, by saying that he would like to meet me. I would like to meet him. Unfortunately, due to the sucky economy I didn't have enough gas money to drive over 100 miles (round trip) to get to Ann Arbor, MI, even though I was roaring to go!!!

I'm going to try to make it to this year's ANNUAL ANN ARBOR HASH BASH (and hopefully meet with ADAM BROOK), if I get enough gas money ready and my car runs well enough. I'll try, but no promises!!!

If I do manage to go, then I hope to meet some "hippy.comers" there, if I can know who they are. I gave some photo links above, to show what I may be wearing.
