a priveleged south American traveled the continent and saw the realities of the poor, working class. he became a revolutionary in the name of the people. the US government killed him. the end.
yea he was a communist revolutionary/murderer, no better than his oppressors, who is glorified years after his death by high school kids that shop at hot topic. any specifics you want to know?
I'm asking because I was watching the episode of 'die hippie die' from south park. And kyle was wearing a t-shirt with his picture. And I've seen it around and I finally wanted to know what the whole story was behind this picture. So are most for or against che guevara?
its been a while since i read anything on it but he was a racist homophobe who ordered the execution of hundreds of innocent people he plotted to attack new york and hosted book burnings. i even read something about having a special window installed in his room to have a better view of the executions you should really do a google search if interested. google is an amazing tool
Che isn't remembered kindly for the killing, but for the revolutionary spirit and visionary nature of what he did. He killed; but a lot of 'heroes' kill people. His face became synonymous with revolution and rebellion and that's why he'll be remembered for a long time to come. Also, he wasn't quite the antichrist natural is making him out to be. Most people wear his shirts without knowing anything more than 'some rebel communist guy'; or even less - which is probably the gag South Park was going for. Any group of hippies has one dude in a Che shirt. That he probably bought at Hot Topic, which is enough irony to make it all worthwhile.
that's interesting. I didn't know he was that extreme, makes sense he got killed. I should read more about it
for once, i like what natural_philosophy has to say also, deviates second comment is good...first comment is off the mark though.
All I know is that "Motorcycle Diaries" was a really good movie. I'm not sure how accurate the story is, but I appreciate it regardless. But it did not make me idolize Che Guevara. And that there are way too many college students that wear Che t-shirts.

He hated blacks, gays, and killed plenty of innocents, so people wear him on their shirts... Yeah, I don't get it either.
there was no record of these events until the 'ministry of propoganda' released the motorcycle diaries story. its most likely more fiction than fact.
there was that shirt i wanted, the classic che image and the words "this shirt brought to you by capitalism" written across it.
