what's wrong with backcombing? i just want to push them in the right direction at the begening...

of course i am also thinking about the neglect method as well...

more on the neglact method to be honest...( as i am doing it for a spiritual reason...like a journey of my life )

I look at is as just a preference as to which you like :p I went back combing because awhile back (my hair was below my shoulders at the time) I went like 8 months without brushing my hair, because I was lazy not for dreads, and I had basically NO knots what so ever. So when I finally decided to start dreads, I figured I'd just backcomb them..

how exactly can dreadlocks be spiritual? and more importantly, how are backcombed dreadlocks supposed to be spiritual? are you a Rasta? Nazerite or something?

i ment leaving it natural for spiritual purposes but i would consider backcombing just to get it on the right track

i think dreadlocks are spiritual (the natural way) (for me) because i am on the path of letting things go and see what i can learn from letting things that seemed important to me (such as money, being popular e.g) to just let them go and not worry about such matters...the same with my hair just letting it go and see where it leads too

the backcombing thing is just for me and i thin it looks good for me, but the backcombing bit is not for spiritual purposes just to have nice looking dreads.

so i am in a debate with myself whether i should let it go natural or keep it backcomping...

so you think that backcombing will give you a leg up on the spirituality? you say that you can learn from letting things go yet you still want to maintain control over the process? do you see the contradiction?

    you're misunderstanding me

the backcombing is just for looks -
    the natural is for spiritual-

if i decide to go with my spiritual journey then it will be natural, if not then backcombing... do you understand now?

and why do you care so much? why are you so perssistent as to prove me wrong?

haha, backcombing is not gonna lead to you having nice looking dreads. They might "look" like dreads for a few days, but then them shits is gonna start looking nappy as could be. Time is the only thing that's gonna do it. You can do all sortsa shit to em to make them come across nice looking until times takes it's course. I backcombed 3 dreads in the very back of my head about a 1 1/2 ago. I'd say they're looking alright now, but 5 months into it, you couldn't tell I backcombed a thing.

How is it every thread turns into a neglect vs backcombing debate? Do what you feels best.

nobody is debating the methods. im just trying to understand what this guy is saying. still doesn't make any sense to me. are you on the fence about taking a spiritual journey? and whether you go on a journey will determine the method you will use?
