desomorphine (dihydrodesoxymorphine)

My buddy managed to acquire thionyl chloride (between 20mL & 40mL @ 2M), and was curious as to what sort of lab equipment would be necessary? starting from codeine & thionyl chloride, using Pd/C for the catalytic reduction, and HCl or HBr (which would be preferable?) for the demethylation.

 

Now I shall go out into the country at a more well aerated river stream for outleting from a Basic Lake. I think Trout are already in season.
