Can someone talk to me about red light camera tickets?

My gf just got one from one of the cameras, but no where to be found is a picture of her face. It is just a civil thing, "Failure to timely pay this civil penalty will not result in the issuance of an arrest warrant or the recording of the violation on your driver's record."

Can I call and yell at them and tell them to go fuck themselves or show me a picture of the face of the driver?

 

I think they mail the bill to whoever is listed as the car's owner

 

send em 20 bucks in a timely fashion and say thats all i got my bad sorry..

 

depending on where you are, you might be able to get off.

 

They are ticketing the car-not a person. There are no points. But the owner of the car has to pay.

They're hard to fight-they have a picture of the car. It's not important who was driving-because they are fining the car-not the driver. It's like a parking ticket.

if you(/her) didn't do the crime, then you have a legitimate grievance.

i've gotten four of these fucking things. i don't know about where you live, but the ones here take pictures of the car, license plate, and driver, and damn are they clear. they also record video that you can view online. god i hate those damn cameras.

 

I think you should dump your girlfriend for running red lights. Bitch could have hurt somebody.

 

Sorry, it's my fault. I was complaining two holiday seasons ago about everyone running red lights in their shopping frenzy and the next thing you know cameras were going up everywhere.

 

they're so unnecessary. obviously a person isn't going to run a red light if there are cars around, but why be forced to wait if you're the only person at the intersection? where i live they only let one direction go at a time so that its possible to take a left turn for the lane that has the green light. so you have to wait for 3 other lights before yours will turn green. so fucking stupid.

 

i'm sure someone WILL talk to you about red light camera tickets.

and sorry, no, it isn't "obvious that no one will run a red light when there's other traffic around". people doing precisely that is why someone got the wild idea up their ass to PUT cameras on stoplights. or that someone could make a buck selling cameras TO put on traffic lights, or what have you.

and just because you don't see anyone anywhere. i once got a ticket for an improper turn when there wasn't another car on the road anywhere. that is not another car anywhere except the cop car i didn't see because he was right up behind me in my blind spot.

and there were some one hella extenuating circumstances i won't go into why i had to do it too.

they just put them up a couple of years ago. a lot of people would run the red lights when they were the only ones at the intersection.

i remember looking into it when the cameras were first installed, and i found that the company that manufactures them makes more money off the tickets than the city.
