The Male L.A 1967 image - blue cord velvet bell bottom trousers with a belt with a big buckle, a paisley shirt, with a colourful waistcoat (what americans call 'vests'), beatle boots, a peace sign medallion, and granny glasses. :sunglasse thats the image thats in all the b grade hippy exploitation films of the 60s.
that sounds like a pimp hippie i was thinking more along the lines of a tree in one hand and a bottle of bubbles in the other, long hair, definitely a peace sign, lots of beads, no shoes, aaaand.. old ripped jeans!
oh yeah i forgot the love beads! mickey dolenz from the monkees with his afro, love beads, and poncho
glad you all dig it. yeah...Smile smile smile and let the sunshine in. lol...i have a t-shirt of that. two hippies holding hands lookin out into the sun and it says let the sunshine in.
Basicly anything comfortable... lots of patches about peace and jam bands and some beads... Whatever you choose to wear, be sure to wear it alot, like, everyday, washing is optional =P Thats how I do at least...
As funny as this thread is to me..i am gonna post in it.. i just wanna say..there is no right or wrong way to dress like a "hippie" being a hippie is something that u can not see..it's inside of you... honestly..someone may look at me and say i look like a hippie..but, me..im just ruth..and i dress as i plz..of course there is new school hippies...none of us r really hippies...i like to call it modern day hippies..i luv to sew my own clothing.....so here is how i dress (most of the time..)
Exactly, there's ways to look like a hippie, but whether you really are one depends on the inside... As Timothy Leary said, "For every visible hippie, barefoot, beflowered, beaded, there are a thousand invisible members of the turned-on underground." ie...it's all about the love, all about the love...
nothing like unshaved armpits... lol... i dont understand the whole not shaving thing, other than the fact that we're (or atleast, i'm) lazy..
