I am new to this forum, and not sure if this is the right place for this, so if it isn't ,your indulgence please. Does anyone know if there have been studies of people who are blind from birth, who take hallucinogens???? Do they experience any visuals ??
Woot, my first post as well. I've stopped by this place for the past year though. I've never heard of any actual studies being conducted with blind people and hallucinogens. I know there are blind shamans and i imagine that they experience the visual side as well as all the other aspects of ayahuasca, or whatever plants they are working with. The only thing i remember reading like this was Michael Harner's first ayahuasca trip where some beings were telling him they were the masters of earth and our creators. He later told this trip to a blind shaman who responded by saying "oh, there always saying that. there really only the masters of outter darkness" (outter space). Interesting shit for sure!
i googled as well and found a study that was evidently done http://www.mindhacks.com/blog/2009/11/do_blind_people_hall.html
I would guess no. How could their brain do that? They had never seen anything...I would say anyone who has been blind since age 2 or 3 wouldn't hallucinate. However someone who had spent a large portion of life with eyesight would probably hallucinate.
I've wondered that same thing. This is such a strange thing to say... but I am actually kind of envious of how beautiful the tripping experience must be without the inhibition of vision. Their mind must truly go free.
it probably depends on what is making the person "blind". If the connections to the brain are faulty how could they have visuals, but if it was a problem with the actuall eye, then I don't see why they couldn't have weird impulses being transmited into their optic nerves and what not.
i've read that colorblindness can go away while on lsd. ...who has a blind friend? i'll dose them for free
Yea, but do you need working eyes to have CEV's? I know someone who has a damaged eye and can see more periphial out of the bad eye sometimes, like more light is let in. But cannot see objects still.
I had a weird trip on my birthday, where I was laying on the bed and was believing I was blind, I had my eyes closed and I was just drifting off in worlds.. I was seeing many things in my CEV lots of clear pictures of things I know of already, landscapes and patterns.. I was telling my Gf that I wonder if is easier to live as blind or what if all the sudden everyone was blind ..
I would hate to be blind personally, I ran around for like 3 days with a patch on to see how my man feels w/ one eye and no depth perception. It sucked only having one eye, and the headaches from getting used to one eye were horrendous.
i found a blind persons description of a trip the other day http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28812
I used to live with an older blind woman, she was blind from birth, she had smoked pot for years and one day I was able to talk her into doing some mushrooms. During her trip she didnt have any visuals, however she was still tripping pretty hard, very giggly, just the headspace and what have you. she loved it tho, and continues to trip occasionally. But yea there were no colors or images or patterns or anything of the sort for her, i kinda wish she wouldve gotten to experience it, but eh im happy she experienced the drug at all She was touching everything tho, like she was seeing with her hands everything for the first time differently, it was interesting to see her reaction to everyday things.
