A question for you pro-war people on here

If the Iraqi's who don't want the American's on their land is such an important issue to you, then why don't ship yourself over there and fight against our troops since we're doing them such an injustice?

 

And I guess a bunch of left-wingers on the hipforums are going to negotiate a solution, right? I am aware that this is not the "politics" forum, but common sense would tell you that war=politics. America attacks is a reality, and America attacked for good reasons.

 

Okay dude, honestly... I don't see how, even if the whopping 5 right wingers were omitted from these forums, you guys would make a real difference. There are far more left-wingers on here protesting against the war than there are right wingers. So why don't you guys organize some strategy to stop the war, and then find some means of spreading it to the rest of the country?

I agree with changing minds, but you aren't going to change anyone's mind here. I mean, everyone who has an opinion about the war's mind is already made up. And if you were trying to change minds, then why are you trying to sweep all the right-wingers out the door? Aren't these the people whose mind's you are trying to change? If you want to spread information, perhaps a predominantly left wing forum isn't the right place if you are trying to make a difference. I think starting your own magazine would be more beneficial, because you could possibly reach a wider audience.

But in the case of the Iraqis they were completely unable to. Saddam had vast numbers of secret police ready to crush the slightest coup attempt or pro-democracy movement. Not only that but the Kurdish communists in northern Iraq actually wanted the Wests' help to rid them of Saddams regime. In Iraqi Kurdistan the Kurds were already at war with Saddams' regime long before the war started!

The two big power brokers of Kurdistan are Massoud Barzani and Jalal Talabani both part of the Iraqi interim government council they are rivals and only a short time ago (96-7) were fighting each other in a Kurdish civil war. During that time Barzani invited Saddam in to help him get the upper hand over Talabani.

Yep these plucky Kurds who Hitchen’s praises as tireless fighters against the evil Kurshish gassing Saddam were quiet happy to actually asked this Hitleresque tyrant in to help them.

Alliance for Workers Liberty, (AWL) put a motion to the nus which was titled No to War - No to Saddam, The Motion was to reaffirm its support for the Stop The War Coalition, yet it was in protest of the Stop The War Coalition's (SWC) alliance with the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB). MAB was defined as a reactionary programme and an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. Its politics were defined as misogynist, homophobic, anti secular and anti democratic. The motion further stated "that liasing with MAB meant that many Labour Groups, women, Jews, "secular" and "progressive" Muslims would feel offended". In summary the Motion called for the NUS to support the SWC but criticise and condemn its connection to MAB.

there are other issues, human rights in the islamic world doesnt get the coverage it deserves which is a much bigger subject than whats going on in isreal .
