Recently, a woman came up to me and said, "Why do you have those things?" She was obviously talking about my tattoos. The way she said it, it was like she was talking about something poisonous, and the look on her face was just utter disgust. I looked at her and said, "To feel more permanent." I smiled and then went on doing what I was doing. I don't think she knew what to say because she just sort of looked at me and then walked off. So... Why do you have those things?
i just like them, i think theyre cool.. i hate when people look at me in disgust, i just have my dimples pierced, and people are like "ewww why did you do that to your face?".. im like wtf??? its rude !! i dont mind if someone asks nicely like "what made ya get that done" in a nice tone... but when they judge me for havin teo lil piercins in my face?? that bugs me,.... my grandda was like "you took the hile look off your face, why did you do that" ugghh people are so annoyin!! !!!
"why did you do that to yourself" obviously because i wanted to. Not everyone thinks it looks bad. Personally, I think dimple piercings look way cool, btw.
today me and my sister (who is even more tattood than i am) took our kids out in the pram around the city and went shopping. the looks we get together are priceless. tattooed people arent allowed to be parents let alone good parents lol- i got tattoos because i like the company- they keep my company permanently- i feel safer (for some reason) with them- more comfortable in my own skin- and it looks sexy when your nakeddddd oh yeah
i love the idea of subversive beauty and of using body mods (be it tattoo or piercing) to enhance one's natural beauty and it's my dream to look like a chick out of a luis royo painting http://www.luisroyo.com/ - for those who don't yet know
Sunberry: Apparently, most of America has some unwritten rule where if your mind is even slightly open, you are doomed to be a terrible parent with heathen children. Coincidentally, my tattoo artist has two wonderful children. haha You going to the mall kind of reminds me of when my aunt and I go out together. Its a trip. What's even better, is when you spot someone else who has tattoos and wears them proudly, its a great conversation starter! phoenixsun: Wow, that is a great painting. Beautiful.
Each one of mine tells a story and reminds me of where I have been and where I am going. It reminds me why I should be a better person and a few have a spiritual meaning for me. They are also visualy stimulating. I remember my brother and his wife wouldn't let me near their daughter because I have tattoos (just on my back at the time which are rarely seen) because they didn't want their daughter to get the idea that tattoos where cool and okay... she came home from daycare one day with a temporary tattoo on the small of her back, her teacher has one lol.
This pretty much sums it up for me. People have been marking on there bodies since they figured out how to use plants for color, for spiritual and social reasons. Why should our society just up and decide now that it isn't acceptable? What gives us the right? I wouldn't mark my skin permanently if it didn't mean something to me. Every one of my tattoos is something that means something to me and is something that I want to carry with me until I am just a body in the ground (or ashes). Also, lol about the daycare teacher. That's great. I had a drama teacher who got a tattoo on his forearm representing Dionysus (god of wine and theater).
exactly thanks, i love them haha haha yeah, people are so judgemental !!!! tattooed people are baaad people
it's irritating when older generations say that. one time i had this guy tell me "you should be ashamed of yourself" and i think i told him to fuck himself because that's not nice so yeah. my reason for having my tattoos are because they're art that i have the choice to get put on my body haha forever and it's pretty cool that i don't have to have clean skin
My great great aunt or whatever is insistent on the fact that my lip rings are going to give me cancer. lol
haha yeah if i wear hoop lip rings i've heard 'lols fishhooks' and with my studs my uncle has said something like 'you got a bolt in your lip'
Yeah lol I get a lot of "You've got something on your lip." What's really bad is when I'm out of it and fall for that one.
short answer: i get tattoos because i'm a radical fucking dude... i'm an artist and i'm proud to be covered in art... most of which i drew. all my tattoos are significant, even if they weren't when i got them they are given new meaning everytime i look at them. they cause introspection. i like tattoos because you can't take them off and pretend to be something else. i am what i am and i dont fake it, deal with it.
When I was pregnant with my son, my mother swore up and down my lip and tongue ring where poisioning him and they where going to cause birth defects.
Pump yourself full of these prescription drugs, but for goodness sake, don't put this stainless steel bar through your skin! Its funny to me, because most of the people that have a problem with my piercings don't have a problem with regular ear piercings. They wouldn't be able to look at me straight if I had my ears gauged though. I just don't understand what the difference is.
I work in retail. the job i'm at now is alright with my ears. but at my old job i wasn't allowed to have my hair up cause they said that by having stretched ears plus 5 other piercings going up my ear offend people. it's ridiculous. Even at my job, i can tell when people are looking through my ears instead of at my face when i talk to them. But i've only ever had one comment in disgust with them. i dont really remember what they said, but i simply replied with a smile saying "have a good day".
I'm glad to know that I'm not crazy for thinking that it should be a person's own business what they do with their body. I just assumed these thoughts I was having were what they call radical thinking. Maybe this is what that Dangers of Marijuana video at school was trying to warn me about. lol
