I recently read and responded to this: And here was my response: I am so sick of this fucking tea bagger mentality.
I would have simply said "This is one of the reasons America is so much better than these other countries."
I'm half and half on the issue. On the one hand, I don't blame them for coming here. On the other hand, my tax dollars are paying for their freebies. ):
If people want to immigrate here why can't they do it legally? I think a lot of people, such as the person quoted, are anti-illegal immigrant because they're racist but will never say it, but it really is a problem. If I tried to illegally immigrate to England I'd be breaking the law and would be dealt with properly when caught.
It wasn't ILLEGAL, until your ancestors (who came when there were no laws to stop them) wrote the laws that made it so. In otherwords, after they got theirs, they have done everything in their power to stop others from the same opportunity and then cried foul when people tried to find a way around them.
Maybe because it takes so long and they and/or their children are starving or in danger. Think about the people they find off the coast of Florida crowded on a tiny homemade raft with little to zero food or water, how desperate would you have to be to attempt that journey? Not to mention ballsy. We've been spoiled in this country, most never having to go hungry, or worse see our children hungry. We need to have a little more compassion for our fellow human beings.eace:
Diversity doesn't work. Be honest about it, and no problems occur. Deny it and you create problems for the future. :xmastree:
How do you figure that diversity is the problem here? The way I see it is the lack of diversity is the cause of this shit... A group of people came to a new world, and regardless of their 'official' stance, tried to make the 'new world' act exactly like the old one, with different titles and a different group as the leaders... They did not make a nation that was free and proud, they made one that was paranoid and ashamed of itself.
Well, we don't live in a world with out borders, and the reality is, all countries have issues with immigration. That's our reality now. Proclaiming: "It wasn't ILLEGAL, until your ancestors (who came when there were no laws to stop them) wrote the laws that made it so." Ignores the fact the US didn't invent the notion of illegal immigration... ...and some of those nice Natives would have murdered every newcomer and sent their bones to which they came, if they could have. Why? because they didn't want them there.
Actually, what you just did was prove what I said is 100% true. It doesn't ignore the fact, it recognizes that despite their stated desire to build a new country where everyone was equal, they took thier cues from the places they came from. Actually, even according to your own 'official' histories, they were welcomed with open arms and friendship, until they proved they were not good guests. They came they raped and stole and destroyed everything until some of the natives realized that their words were lies and decided they didn't want to let them remain. At which point the natives were slaughtered and rounded up and told to either assimilate or rot in some of the worst places in the country.
Pardon? Remember I said: "...and some of those nice Natives." Everywhere you go there will be people that are not accepting of new people...regardless of how good or bad the newcomers are. Why do you think some Natives fought for their land so bloody hard? fun? Actually, no.
I love (sarcasm) when people say this...it generally means: "You think what you like, but I'm right."
