it's a result of all the fear mongering, that you see manifesting all over this thread. I do have to say, though, that an APBT can clear a 6ft fence with ease more or less. if it has that determination to be on the other side. and if an APBT does decide to attack, it's gonna inflict a hell of a lot more damage than a poodle. but most people can't afford insurance policies like that, and have to surrender their dogs.

another problem with being a responsible pit owner that you run into is the majority of apartment complexes, leasing companies, and private renters have bans against certain breeds on their property, for liability reasons. pits are always included. so you have to search around for an open minded landlord. it's not too hard here, because they go hand in hand with the coastal culture here. but less tolerant places it's nearly impossible.

then on top of that, everyone judges you for owning one. and you have to get used to that. it definitely takes having a passion for the animals to put up with it all.

 

here are results by the American Temperament Test Society. look at the huge number of APBTs they tested, and the percentage that passed. it is one of the least likely breeds to show human aggression, and one of the most stable temperaments. Tibetan Mastiff got 30 something percent, but then again they tested way fewer dogs. something to think about

The only dog I ever had that came from a breeder. He was a German Shepard of German lineage with a plush coat. One of the smartest and trustworthiest dogs I ever had. He died about a year ago, he was 12 1/2. Here he is in his last days.

awww. my grandpa had a german shephard puppy named duke when i'd visitted them when i was 9. i played with him the whole visit. 7 years later when i went back to visit, he was living with my uncle because he got to be too much for grandma to handle. so when i went to visit my uncle's farm, this HUGE german shepherd comes racing right for me. i could see how freaked out everyone was. they thought i was gonna be eaten. i saw this dog charging at me and was like HOLY SHIT!

but it was duke, all grown up, and he remembered me. he was sniffing me all over, rolling on his back, barking and bouncing playfully, chewing on my pant leg like he used to. then he followed me all the way home to grandpa's house and followed me everywhere that summer. wherever i was, he was there. when i went inside, he'd lay next to the door nearest to where i was or by my bedroom window. sweet ol' baby.

 

A lot of German Shepards have been irresponsibly bred in America. In Germany if one shows any instability or unwarrented aggression at all, it is spayed or neutered. It's all about the breeds reputation over there. Mine just loved it when my young nephews came to visit, he would watch over them all day.

 

yeah, duke wasn't really aggressive, but super strong and bit a couple of my uncles who likely deserved biting. but gradma was pretty elderly and he needed a lot of exercise and food and grandpa was in a wheelchair.

i've seen these awful shepherds you're talking about. when they start growling at a newborn in a baby carrier, they're fucked up.

Well, I am pretty "mellow" I have had my share of crap over the years. Had an abusive boyfriend,,, if you could call him that. But anyway,,, parts of my body don`t work too well, because of it,,,

So, because of all the crap,,,of that and a few other things,,, I have pretty much "given up" on being a bad-ass / hard-ass. But there is a part of me,,, that when pushed to the limit,,, Takes a while,,, this time it took 2 yrs. I have a "blind rage thing" And "she" pushed it,,, She had been working at it off and all evening.

I was at one point in another room. She said what she said and I answered her,,, and then the next thing I knew I was in another room and didn`t know how I got there,,, or if I had cleaned out the co-worker in the process.

I ended up,,, leaving work,,, I had to "cool down" and get away from her,,, because I was scared of myself,,, for her,,,

Then there has been some REALLY stupid crap on the internet,,, That just because you hve a profile,,, people think you are "desparate". Hey,, I am far from desperate,,, I don`t think I need anyone in my life that can`t handle just being friends,,,,

And why "lie" ??? about who you are ??? Life is life,,, Live and let live,,,,

she could just be high and musing on an unexpectedly awful situation. i had a coworker like that once. bitch hated me on sight. actually, i've had a few of those. hate me on sight. usually because they don't demand what they're worth and are pissed when you do. or they're just fucking bitch whores from hell.

I have to agree there. We got a german shepard a long time ago and she was alright but dumb as hell. She bit at my friend randomly, then she growled at me and actually bit at my hand when i was petting her. Thats when we decided to give her away. I didnt like that dog.

Indeed they can be yappy lol but most i seen were nice and shy. My grandma has one that the poor thing is all messed up because of breeding too much. Im always tempted to ask her to let her do one more birth so i can have one but I think the dog would go after me more than my grandma.

 

Teacup poms = handy snack for real dogs and some cats. Maybe even ferrets.

figures you would like a dog like a pomeranian. also, so nice of you to want your grandma to continue overbreeding the bitch just so you can have a puppy. ever heard of a shelter? and, it's aggressive yet you want to keep those genetics going.. people like you are everything that is wrong when it comes to animals and breeding them

 

I will confess I have problems with most animals smaller than a breadbox when fully grown because theyhave a problem with me. Like I'm gonna eat them or something. And any animal more aggressive than me will hate me, much like middle aged divoirced men and men who consider mail order brides the best possible option. Thus I don't like them, either.
