mental illness and constitutional rights

this is specifically about the right to bear arms! i want to know if in my state because of my mentall illness am i allowed to bear arms. i would also like to know what recourse i have to change this. i live in new york state.

 

.....Did the thought that maybe if you're not allowed to own a gun, it's for a reason ever cross your mind?

I should think it depends on the nature of the illness and any violent or out of control behavior you have a history of.

 

i was asking if i was allowed to... im sure it was there in my original post... and sometimes the government can be wrong about there decisions, just saying

 

the government has a position of denying all people with mental ilnesses gun ownerships in most states, regardless of the type

 

Buy one in an alley, grind off the serial number. Problem solved.

 

depends... i know that in california if you have been labeled as 5150 you are no longer allowed to own a gun.

 

there are also state constitutions that apply

it really depends on the case - I've never been one to be "into" guns so I don't consider it a big deal if I have a gun or not.

but do you really think it is a wise idea to have access to implements of destruction if you are sucidal or depressed?

now, it is real easy to get a gun, but we should be wise in our reasons for wanting one.

protection? yeah sure. But to get revenge on someone? bad idea. real bad idea.

 

there just trying to be protective little freaks that nvm...society sucks balls anyways...noone and everyone should be able to own a gun. guns shouldnt even exist to begin with...can u believe the reason they came up with guns is because they needed to find a better way to kill their enemy because of lack of skill with the sword. be a man, man buy a katana and learn shikai thats my advice.

nvm just jokes...the way i see it is if they say you cant own a gun to protect yourself they should be forced to help you live in a safer neighborhood...of your choice ofcourse.
