I drink 1/2 a bottle a night generally. Always red. I make my own wine so usually I drink that. Tonight was 2006 Shiraz made from ontario grapes. I work at a winery so I get free bottles sometimes. If I have to buy, and its been a while I usually go for something from California, Ive like Bonterra's stuff (its organic if that matters) I dont buy it for that, the flavours are really concentrated and true to the varietal. I like chilean wines in general for their price concentration and reliability. Carmen is my favorite producer. Ive had some really nice Argentine wines but ive had some really average ones too so I usually go for Chilean as I find them more reliable. I can go on and on. What do you like?
Lately I have been into wines from Portugal, I haven't found anything yet that really stands out, but I am in wine stores once a week for tastings just so I can find that super special one.
I know this doesn't count as a red, but there's a little winery in Door County Wisconsin that makes a great cranberry wine. Delicious. I'm not too picky about my red otherwise....very dry, woody, and spicy is my preference.
It really depends on the pairing but I myself make a lot of my own wine and prefer a red dry wine over a white wine. Just my style. I love zin, Petite Sirah, pinot noir and who can forget cab
